What's this creamy yellowish white stuff on soil?

I was just about to propagate my anthurium plant when I removed the coco bark from the top and found all this white stuff underneath ! Some of it looks like fine grains, like very course white sand. Nothing is on the plant, just on the bark and in the soil. No bad smell; I repottest this plant last fall with fresh soil. I then covered the soil for the first time with bark, since I noticed nurseries doing it. I realize it looks nice and keeps moisture in, but hides what's going on underneath.

Unfortunately the pictures are not great, but that's the best I could do. I put a bit of it into a little plastic zip loc bag to take to a nursery, but its a long drive. I want to try here first to find out what if people can tell me what this is and what should I do ? I am also concerned about my other plants to get contaminated. Plus, I am just starting my indoor spring seeding...
