Thanks Pat and Nancy! Gardenerwantable, sorry the pic isn't clear. Yup, the punch-outs for the cords to pass through are already out, no problem there. (And I know just what you mean about the option of mounting it 90° and having two punch-outs.) The problem isn't where the cords go, it's the plugs themselves, and it's only because these two have to be piggy-backed together. My thermostat isn't hardwired into the fan. It's designed so you first plug the thermostat into the outlet, and then you plug the (fan, heater, whatever) into the back of the thermostat plug. So, the two plugs are piggy-backed together. The two plugs together are almost 5" long, but the clear bubble cover on these in-use outlet covers is only 2 1/2 to 3" deep. One plug by itself works great (cover closes and it looks lovely.) Two big plugs piggybacked together, no go! I'm still thinking. Jack, thanks for your concern. You are right about electricity and water. All of our wiring is protected in 3/4" conduit, with GFCI outlets and (the ill-fitting) in-use outlet covers to be as safe as possible. You might be seeing the heavy cords of the fan and thermostat, which will be secured with plastic cable ties as soon as I figure out where the thermostat should live. I am far too chicken to have loose wires running about! I think Gardenerwantabe's ceiling fan blades just have a relaxed attitude toward life, which is a goal of mine. :-)

Hi Roseabbey, I'm Nutherokie and I have a mirror problem. I had lighted 5x mirrors hardwired in three bathrooms in our new house! It seems I can't go a day without one. I certainly can't put on makeup without one. Recently, I bought a Simple Human rechargeable cordless 10x mirror. I got it because it folds for travel, but now I've added it to my daily routine. It's too powerful to be great for general makeup application, but it's perfect for tweezing (and OCD-ing over hideous pores, but that's another issue)! Anyway, I've become a big fan of the Simple Human mirror. It's lighted with LEDs and is VERY bright -- much brighter than my incandescent hardwired mirrors. A charge lasts a long time and it's nice not to have cords in the way between charges. The light comes on automatically when you look into it. It goes off when you step away. Simple Human has their original 5x version and a new 7x version that I covet. There's a ton of reviews of the 5x and 10x versions on Amazon. The main complaint seems to be that the light immediately goes off when you step away from the mirror. That is a little bit annoying, but it sounds like they've addressed that in the most recent iterations. They're a little expensive, but they're the best mirrors I've encountered. Thank you very much for thinking of us and posting pictures of your mom's beautiful dining room, mojomom. I certainly hope that the choices we make for our home will age as gracefully as your mom's. : ) Thanks for the pictures mdln. Those are very nice. Awww, no worries sheesh. This technological stuff is so hard to keep up with, isn't it. Our video screen for watching movies is hooked up to a speaker cabinet from 1978 (the record player is even still in it) because neither dh nor I are up to figuring out the new sound systems right now, LOL. We'll leave out the electric fireplace, jlc712. In fact, we've had an about face with the whole project...Now why I didn't do this earlier, I don't know. I drew everything out on graph paper (always better than doing math in your head-oy!), and with the other furniture in the dining room, I was stunned (smacking forehead, here) that there really is only room for an 8' table. Ummmm...we're outgrowing our 8' table already, and 1/2 of our kids are under 10. That lead to a whole house evaluation, and a complete rearrangement of furniture and room functions. As a result, we flip-flopped our living room and dining room today. (Fortunately, the kitchen is smack dab in the middle of the house with the other rooms on either side of it.) The living room (I mean...new dining room) is 15.5' x 25'. It can handle a dining room table, a big dining room table. Like 16' long big. And that's with putting a closet at one end of the room (so all these closet ideas? They won't be wasted!) For DH, this means doing the longer, more extensive project of supporting the ceiling with beams rather than a closet, but it will make for a wide open and airy living room(yay, I love airy!), and a long dining room with plenty of room for a larger table. Phew. Since we often have large groups of people over, this should work very well for us. We were even able to work it so that we got more couch and chair seating in the 14'7" x 17' room than we could logistically work in the 15.5' x 25' room. It all seems good. It is so true that it pays to live in a house for awhile to see how the space functions before making major changes. Thank you one and all for helping us think this project through. You have been incredibly kind and helpful and I love the creative insights and ideas that you brought forth.

I keep all my makeup in a caddy in the master bathroom but carry it, with a magnification mirror, to a bedroom window that gets natural light. That way I don't wind up with a clown face when I go outdoors! (The master bath doesn't have a window, and I didn't want to get one of those makeup mirrors that change to natural light since I have a wall of bedroom windows with all the natural light I want.) It's an excellent system.
