Driveway surface

My driveway has a long (1000 ft) and steep straight section, with a more level section with a "teardrop" and spur going into my garage. It is all gravel, mainly "#2 crusher run", which was selected by my builder. I live in snow country and have a problem with my snow plower, who often pushed the stones onto my lawn. I got a snow blower recently to take care of areas the plow doesn't cover and frequently the stones get caught in the auger which breaks the shear pin. Is there another surface I could use which would reduce this problem, short of paving?

(I can't find "driveways" as one of your topics).
