help choosing garage doors

I'm in the process of choosing the garage doors for my new build. We have always lked the doors with the windows down the one side but im not sure its the right choice because my doors are different sizes. Here's a pic of the drawing (the windows on my home don't

have the grids in them, they are plain and our front doors are black with 3/4 glass) of the front of my house and then the doors we are considering.

1. Do i do windows down the side of the door or along the top ?

2. Do i do no windows and just plain

3. If i do windows down the side do i do the windows on left or right side of the doors.

I would get the doors with the windows across the top. The door with the windows on the side have a more modern look that wouldn't go well with the style of your home.

I would pick a regular door for your house. All of the windows and shutters are a dominant feature and I think a carriage door would compete with that. A plainer door would let the eye rest a bit.

Hi there - thank you for posting! For some added curb appeal, definitely update the color of the garage, front door and two peaks in the front. Make the peaks a fresh, bright white like PPG's Delicate White. The front door and garage door would benefit from a nice, rich navy/gray - like PPG's Silver Blueberry. Best, Meghan

I love the sage green trim around the lighter front door, RL Location!!! I guess I like the green and brown as those are the colours of my Dad's house in Maine and it looks so great in its surroundings. Classic is classic for a reason! I think the green trim would really complement everything. Sorry about the windows. I hope you didn't find my comment insulting as I didn't mean it that way. There are pains and stains for vinyl windows, btw, but I've never used them so no experience.

I commented on the pictures before I read what you wrote! We got new garage doors last spring and I was surprised how inexpensive they are. We got black garage doors. My husband recently put Styrofoam insulation in them and it’s made a big difference in the heat. For the trim around your garage doors I would go as light as possible even the color of your current garage doors would look great as the body of the house and your trim it looks to be similar to Sherwin Williams alabaster.

This does not exactly match your house, just wanted to show a simpler version. Changed the larger gable on the right so it has a purpose covering the porch. Lowered the roof pitch and removed the gable decoration. Gables on the ends. Switched to a single door with sidelights. Board and baton in the gables.

Agree with the above about the garage doors. I'd like to see divided lite windows (the door would be similar, the one shown is just one I had handy).

Not on that house those are MCM garage doors and you are a far cry from that style with your house. Sorry but I think a nice garage door with the winows across the top and no xs would be nice ,You have avery busy exterior so keep those garage doors simple
