Should I paint my wood panelled walls?
Comments (7)Mmmmm, I love that panelling, it appears to be very good quality, and I would definitely keep it as is. It appears that you have plenty of light to keep the room from being dark. Wood-panelled walls along with wood flooring was a staple of the bungalows of the early 20th century as well as for hundreds and hundreds of years in Europe! Personally, I think having some contrast between the floor and the wall panelling is a good idea; using an inlaid border is a great way to transition from one color of wood flooring to another. Area rugs, window treatments, upholstery (get some more color in there besides the brown leather), and artwork will add color and break up the wood tones....See MoreWhat floor with dark wood panel walls?
Comments (2)Hello Emmarene, thanks for answering. The rest of the house has wood floors, sandy-light color. I'll try and upload a photo of the hallway later, it's an oblong room, on one end there's the door to the garage, on the other end there's the door to the patio. Large windows on one side, though altogether it's quite a dark room. Also it's the only way of getting to the back garden, so I need to take the trash cans and lawn mower through there... definitely need a robust floor....See MoreMaroon carpet and light tan wood panel wall? couch ideas?
Comments (0)Our house has wood panels and maroon carpet. Unfortunately we cannot change the carpeting or wall and so need to buy a couch that will go with the scheme. Do not feel comfortable with posting my own love living room but here our pictures of the combo, the dining room is connecting and has a nice dark cheery wood dining table....See MoreHelp! We are getting mold on an interior wood paneled wall
Comments (12)I agree with the Cooks Kitchen. We had a very similar problem. We had a paneled vaulted ceiling, painted white, in a bedroom. There was no insulation in the ceiling...just the wood paneling, then roof paper and then composite shingles. We never had a leak but we would get mold/mildew (it was grey in color) on the ceiling. This room was on the shady side (not sure if that made a difference) of our one story house, not near any bathrooms or laundry. This mold/mildew would build up over time. Every year I would wipe the ceiling with bleach (we had wood-looking linoleum so I didn’t have to worry about bleaching carpet ) . We finally put in a heater with the vents high up in the wall. This ventilation helped a bit but still had to bleach the ceiling every couple years. We are in the process of remodeling this side of the house. Hopefully the insulation will make the difference. In the meantime maybe try a dehumidifier or heater or some fans. Good luck....See Morepalimpsest
