Light fixture size for bathroom

We are in the middle of a complete remodel of our primary bathroom and I need to choose a chandelier/pendant for the middle of the room. It’s far enough from tub to meet code. I’m not sure what size fixture to get. The room is about 10x10. There is an existing crystal chandelier that is a little funky with age, so not sure if I want to keep it or not.

These photos are before it was gutted and a bit distorted by the camera. The new vanity sconces are polished nickel, traditional-ish style but I think I’d like to go with a gold pendant/chandelier as I’m going to be adding some artwork with gold frames and small accessories.

Cut out some paper rectangles in various sizes (18", 24", 28", 32", and 36"). Tape them up one at a time and see which size seems right. When I did this in a similar situation, it was really helpful. I could see immediately that a 36" fixture seemed perfect for one 5' vanity, but was way too small for another 7' vanity.

It'll be fine. Leaves a foot on each end, so it will look nice and uncluttered. Most multi-light bars over the mirror actually put out too much light, IMO. I have a three light over a 36, and use 20 watt bulbs in it. Anything more is too much. The trend today is side lighting, which really is more flattering-- hides the crows feet and wrinkles until you enter the real lit-from-above world, at which time you look like you again. But it would be very tight given the size of your mirror.

I am purchasing my bathroom vanity lights this week. For my boy's bathroom, they have 2 vanities back to back from one another. The vanity is 54 inches long. The light fixture I purchased is a 4 light bar, measuring 28 inches across. Is this a good size for that space? In comparison to what we ave in our current home, a 36" vanity with a 24" light fixture. I know it will be enough light just don't want it to look out of proportion. The mirror will extend completely over the vanity and the light will go right above the mirror. I think anything bigger will be overwhelming and too much light.

Here is one in chrome that extends 9 inches. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/capital-lighting-capital-vanities-chrome-bathroom-light/P1452623 We went with this one in brushed nickel that extends 9.5" and have it with the lights down. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/feiss-lighting-hamlet-satin-nickel-bathroom-light/P1523323 There are some out there and I am happy to help if you give me details on what you are looking for. I went through this search earlier this year and spent weeks looking. We have a surface mounted medicine cabinet by Bertch that sticks out only about 4 inches. There might be other medicine cabinets. I went through that search too.
