living room rug to tie room together
Comments (3)thank you- so you think I should stick with the blues and grays and not try to bring in new colors with a statement rug?...See MoreLiving room rug is bolder than expected!
Comments (14)Thank you all so much! I struggle with arranging/decor so this is super helpful. I agree the sofas are too big (and too ugly and mismatched!) but it’s what we have currently. It’s a small room, small house, large family with lots of teenagers who use this room. I removed the large pillows (they came with the loveseat) and added a blue throw to the brown couch. Also moved the lamp between the couches and I do like it better there. Then I rearranged the pictures and I think it’s a bit better. I will also order some white curtains and see how that looks. I tried with no curtains and it looked too plain and also tried some blue ones and those didn’t look good either. Diana I appreciate your comment about the patterns, too. So much to consider. Maureen I like that teal rug. That in 8x10 (current rug is 9x12) might have been a good choice. I’ll keep that option in mind too. Mytwocents you mention too many small things on the walls. Is it better to use larger pictures and/or fewer (ie some walls empty)?...See MoreLiving room rug
Comments (8)If the issue is that rugs are sold in standard sizes, none of which really fit your situation, the answer is to go to a carpet store. First look at their remnants, then their stocked rolls, then their custom order products until you find something you like as far as color and pattern. Then you can have it cut and edges bound to any size you want. Wall to wall carpeting isn't as popular as it used to be, so all retailers have become used to these types of orders. Remnants are the least expensive way to do this, but I got a special order carpet sized for my living room a couple years ago which wasn't too expensive and it has been exceptionally durable....See MoreLiving room rug help
Comments (6)Before deciding on a rug size, is there potentially another layout possible? It seems a shame to have the sectional/side table squeezed in like that. If interested, try turning the sectional (see below) and eventually consider side tables/lamps and place ottoman in centre/use as coffee table. Then decide how large a rug you need. Regarding rug’s color, you mentioned you will be getting brown cushions (too dark), but only decide after you choose the rug. Look on line for ideas, as there are endless choices: content, style and price. Here’s a ”look”, but it’s really such a personal decision....See MoreRelated Professionals
