Bt Spinosad Safer soap My local nurseries are not into earth friendly products. Maybe yours is. I see amazon.com has Spinosad pretty cheap. This is some kind of organic byproduct of distilling that is poisonous to chewing insects but has little impact on beneficials, pets and yourself. BT is very friendly and can be found almost anywhere. Safer soap not as safe but very easy to find at Target or Walmart. Google the products and make your choice. except for MAYBE the basil ... there is not enough damage there to warrant any kind of bug reaction on your part ... if you think.. that your crop.. will look like the stuff at the grocery.. then you ought to forget organic.. and go full bore chemical ... as to the basil ... i cant see well .. but are the brand new leaves being chewed?? .. if not.. then the pest is probably gone ... first and foremost... i agree go natural ... but all i ask.. is why is it imperative that they look perfect ... now that i read kims answer.. i see we basically agree ... now.. as to PM ....its primary cause.. is going into hot nights with wet leaves .. with lack of air movement .. either do not wet the leaves by spraying after dinner.. or get a watering wand.. and ONLY water the soil ... in fact.. watering leaves for dark.. also leads to slug damage ... go out after dark.. and see if you can find your predator ... baking soda and water also works on PM.. i will leave the research to you on that .... go zen.. and avoid much of all this ... ken

Some of the best seed prices are obtained from Europe seed suppliers,the best being Germany and Holland, where seed usually costs only around one Euro per packet-which at the current rate of exchange is just over a dollar-regardless of variety, The Italians probably do the largest quantity of seed per packet- up to a massive 500 seeds per packet or more in some cases, that's a lot of tomato seeds to keep you going with for a few years, and they are also very cheap too-roughly from one to two Euros per packet.all very good quality seed. But probably the best source is through mutual seed exchange on the various tomato forums with other tomato enthusiasts, for the price of a stamped addressed envelope within the USA one can obtain an awesome amount of very good material with very minimal costs involved- and as Trudi-says,her particular organisation, has got a very fine selection of what must now be approaching 150 varieties or more of just tomatoes,along with a whole host of other veggies as well, and I can assure you from personal experience that the seeds are very fine quality seeds, generous amounts- delivered in full information packets, and usually very quick response times-regarding postal turn around speed, well worthy of mention anywhere.
