Help With Kitchen (Newly Purchased Home)
Comments (18)The biggest problem is going to be the handles since they can't be removed. You could paint the cabs, glue on beadboard, or cover with a vinyl beadboard wallpaper everyone will think is the real deal . You can leave the wallpaper white or paint/glaze, with the glaze catching in all the groves, giving more dimension. If you want to go a step futher, glue strips of wood(2" trim) on all 4 sides, but dealing with the handles isn't going to be easy~to make it easier, go around the handle with the wood trim. It's a little bit of work, but would give an updated 'look' until you decide to do something more. As for a wall color, a sage green with black accessories and light fixtures(faux wrought iron)would be pretty~I purchased brand new in the box at my local Habitat for Humanity, a 5 arm and a 3 arm for $25. Check to see if you have one near you. A couple of containers of red geraniums on or under the window sill for a splash of color. Comments (27)It IS gorgeous! I looked up questions on the inspiration kitchen and found this about the tile, below. Look at the sink in your inspiration photo, and your overhang looks just like it. Also look at the white sink and compare it to the tiles, and you'll see it's not pure white. I would look at a line like Quemere, made in Port Chester NY. Or contact Ken Mason in California. Both these hand made lines have lovely glazes. Comments (11)Since you are going full wall keep in mind that this will be a large statement, especially if it's open to other areas in your home. If you want to keep it timeless but a bit fresh you could always choose an updated subway tile. 3x10 or 12" tile has a more modern look but is still classic, you can choose a textured tile that looks handmade or different colors as well. A marble tile would look fantastic in there. Other options that are classy are hexagon, herringbone and cement field tile. I suggest going to your local tile showroom and see what styles speak to you before you get totally lost in the endless options online. Then if you look online you have some direction to focus on. Keep the color light so it stays neutral with the rest of your home. It looks great so far btw, good job!...See Moregerdyp
