Small Smart TV?

last modified: 3 years ago

Time to fight with Comcast Xfinity over increasing costs: $148/mo for internet (our own monitor) @ $62; two cable boxes @ $10 each; 'Popular' service plan (cheapest with CNN) @ $70; two voice recognition remotes; assorted fees and taxes.

We have one 40" Sony smart TV and one 22" Samsung monitor. Both vintage 2016. The Sony has amplifier, speakers, blu-ray, etc. and we use it primarily to stream -- our Teatime Matinee. The monitor is in the kitchen, used a lot more, mostly for news; it has good sound.

AFAIK we have to have cable to get CNN, MSNBC, and we like the voice recognition remotes. Plus, we'd prefer not to have to re-wire our Senior brains with an all new setup.

Suggestions for a good, small, 'smart' TV to replace the Samsung monitor? It could be worth the trouble to re-wire both sets and dump both boxes, saving $20/mo -- not so much to do only the Sony.

Correction: We have our own MODEM.
