Comments (9)SOO I actually finally found out what this is. It is a tree. We have these trees in our yard that have massive underground runners spreading all over the place and according to the neighbors, they are impossible to control. I have no clue what type of tree it is but we think it might a species of gum tree. The roots are incredibly destructive and invasive. We are planning on cutting them down as long as our next door doesn't mind. There may be an issue of who's property are these tree on. We are pretty sure they are on ours but not entirely....See MoreVervain Biron Check
Comments (17)Lol, May. I never would have put a check fabric on a Victorian chair. Never ever. But...I put the sample on the chair while I was in my library, when I walked back into the room I had an oh my gosh reaction. The bright Aqua and linen color in the fabric just looked fabulous. It made my dowdy little chair look bright and new. Like a plain girl putting on a beautiful gown that transforms her from plain Jane to a beauty. Anele, it's great to see you too. The upholstery for these chairs was actually at the bottom of my to do list. I figured it would be a year or more until I was ready to do these, if ever. I adore velvet also but I didn't think a plain velvet would do anything for the chairs. They really aren't much to look at and if they weren't family pieces I may have never bothered to recover them. Maybe they would look great covered in an aqua velvet but I can't picture it. I would love to see a photo shopped pic of Aqua velvet and also the buffalo check but that is not one of my talents. i also remember someone (Roarah maybe?), who recovered an antique chair in a fabric that I thought was all wrong for the chair. It turned out beautifully. Of course this fabric could look absolutely horrendous on my chairs. I will keep looking but I have this in the back of mind....See MorePlease give me upholstery ideas for my awesome new rocker
Comments (19)There are a lot of timeless and classy patterned fabrics....a sateen stripe comes to mind....but they don't take well to tufting. And that style chair was traditionally done in velvet. And the velvet wears forever....and is easy to clean. That chair really doesn't look worn....have it professionally cleaned and the springs retied, and leave the tufting alone....Spray it well with scotch guard....and leave it to air out for a couple of weeks before you give it to her.....and use that time to make a beautiful baby blanket....do you knit or crochet?...See MoreDoes this chair go with my set?
Comments (11)That leather chair is a bit "meh", so I'd personally skip it. I'm thinking something with a little more character, along these lines ... Not sure any of those that I'm sharing are exactly right, but that's more what I'm thinking. You can mix styles, as long as they retain a rustic quality. Are you considering re-staining the Sandoval pieces to a darker shade? If that's the original finish on them, I wouldn't change them....See MoreRelated Professionals
