Exterior Paint Ideas for SmAll SoCal Beach Home
Comments (0)We live 6 blocks from the beach in a small SoCal town and are finally getting around to painting the original exterior from when we first bought our house! Any advice on exterior colors would be appreciated. Going for a laid back, beach style look. Thank you in advance!...See MoreHelp! 911! Busy corner lot landscape ideas for L.A. craftsman home!
Comments (34)The shrub/hedge is a ficus. The trees on the side came with the house. I am not sure what it is but blooms pink large flower. I agree, the fence is nice. The hedge is to cut out noise and to create more privacy in the back there is an apartment sitting up on a hill behind the house that looks into the yard. A 9 foot hedge would give us the privacy. We thought about trees inside the yard but that would take away space from an already small yard. The front flat yard is small. I am attaching the size. Flat land on left is approx 24' wide x 15' and right side is 16' by 15'. The left is actually larger. The lop is a aprox 30 degree 5'9" I am definitely going to hit Pasadena area. My neighborhood is mixed with landscape styles. It's a neighborhood that is changing. The new kids are doing the complete drought thing and some mixing covers, and grass with drought. The older homes have low fences/gates around the front yard (predominantly to keep the homeless from sleeping on their yards) We were one of the first to take off our front door security gate, and now, others are following. So it is hard to gauge the neighborhoods theme. I would say, 10% of the houses are fully drought resistant(new kids), 75 % grass and tree (50% with gates) and the rest of the folks have dead grass (could be considered drought tolerant (GRIN) or total hard-scape. I have to admit, I dig some of doug's designs. I am not a fan of the palm trees but that design is appealing...See MoreCraftsman home rebuild. Need ideas
Comments (5)I am so sorry for your loss - I too hope no one was injured. I can't imagine the pain of this. I second the public adjuster statement - you need an advocate - they will more than pay for themselves - especially if your house has / had special features that will be expensive to replicate in the rebuild (and based on how lovely it looked prior - I suspect the inside is special too) Find the right contractor early to start getting bids for REAL replacement and work with the public adjuster. Best wishes and keep us posted....See MoreHelp and ideas needed for a beach house
Comments (17)Without any resources or even semi pro help not sure what you can do. Obviously, you need refrigeration and cooking surface and oven or microwave. From the electricals I can see, looks like you are in a different country than U.S.? So here are some very simple possibilities until you can gather more funds and find some pro help. Find a cutting board large enough to fit over hole in countertop to place an induction cooking surface. Get an expansion rod and a curtain and put across opening below counter where there used to be some drop in oven. Then just use as storage for pans for now. Get a small lamp to set on counter for extra lighting at night. Get a couple colorful trays to lean against that tile and a large wooden bowl to put fresh fruit in on counter top. I will find some inspirational photos for you. Bbl...See MoreLoudermilk
