I like white cabinets in small spaces, especially with a dark floor. It will help brighten the space. However, your lighter options could all look good. I would avoid the dark stain for the same reasons. The cabinets combined with the tile would be too dark.

I just did mine in semi gloss white. Came out nice.

first thing I would add is a long shelf to go above the appliances (when you get your new ones), see some of the pics below. Or, if doing front loading, then build a countertop to go over both. I added the long shelf on mine and love it. I also added a rail above to hang delicates and such. see how they've done here? top for folding and rail for hanging. for the 'back splash', you can jazz it up with a stencil, or paint or even some left over tile (you don't need much. check out craigslist for a few sq feet of marble tile or something cool) i just saw a kitchen that was done in white cabs, countertops, but they painted the ceiling in the most beautiful shade of turquoise. it looked so good. perfect idea for a sunny laundry room can't find a pic of it, but it resembled something like this one (just the ceiling. and you could do a satin, not glossy) you could do greens or yellows,,,whatever you like. I think the white cabs w/the blue ceiling is great you could also DIY some T&G on the ceiling or, pick a great color for the cabstand bring in a matching light if it's a small space, go bold w/the flooring. white subway tile is cheap and you can DIY here's that shelf I was referring to http://lovinghere.com/beautiful-small-laundry-room-reno-one-room-challenge-reveal-two-months-late/ something simple, or do a bit bigger:

Having the cabinets a different colour is not a problem as long as you're conscious of how the colours in the two rooms interact. The colours should look complimentary to each other and you can create a cohesive flow between rooms by carrying one of the colours into the other room. For example, if you have white cabinets in the laundry and green cabinets in the mud room, it will look more cohesive if you have green accents and accessories in the laundry room.
