Sing with me my new blues song: "Oh, I hate my laundry room."
Comments (2)I have designed a few things in laundry rooms for clients that really maximize the space. A built in company can give you something sturdy that is customized for your space. If you need to do something on the lower price side these pictures may give you some inspiration. One is storage created above and on the sides of full size units. The other is a mud room that had a broom closet added and over head storage. My best advice would be design for the long run, don't do anything that won't convert well if you end up going to the stackable units....See MoreI hate the finish on my new kitchen cabinets
Comments (20)yalemichmom, fortunately my contractor was very accommodating and did not resist when I said I wanted to hire my favorite painter for walls and trim. I selected and purchased the paint myself and the two professionals were able to schedule work around each other. I wonder if your contractor would consider this. As my architect said, "It's your house and you are writing the check." I think you will be fine with the factory-finished crown, as long as it is the same throughout the room. Kendrah, "too much of a hardened, baked on look that made it feel too sleek and modern for the space" is exactly how I feel about my cabinets. live_wire_oak, thank you for the detailed explanation of coatings. Love the car analogy! It isn't actually the sheen of CV that bothers me. I couldn't find the correct word to describe what I dislike. It's what Kendrah said. I elected to go with CV for durability and the expense of hand painting. In hindsight, I wish I had chosen unfinished cabinets painted on site (with Advance) by aforementioned favorite painter - even knowing it is more fragile and will require periodic repainting. The one thing I appreciate about CV is that inevitable drips of coffee do not stain the cabinet fronts. Mary Elizabeth, lighting does make a difference. The color bothers me less in dim early morning/late evening light. It's daytime, when the inalterable sunlight comes streaming in that I wish I'd chosen something with a little more chroma. All, thanks again for your thoughtful comments....See MoreI hate my new house color, what do I do?
Comments (39)Since repainting is not in the budget, work with what you can. The shutters would be better not there, or if you want to keep them, white. So frustrating when colors don’t end up the way you thought/planned-more so when it’s such a large/expensive area, too. I very much want to kick those shrubs, so really hope you take them out. Someone I’m quite sure can come up with some pretty plants/flowers to put there instead. Yellow is my favorite color, and I like the color of the door, but I do agree about changing it to orange. Patricia‘s MCM idea is lovely, if you can swing the wood. As far as repainting the entire house again bc you’re selling..I like blue, but if I bought it, I would probably repaint anyway, unless it was specifically what I wanted—let the buyers down the road decide. So I think it a wise thing to not mess with repainting again....See MoreHelp! I hate my new flooring! Should I tear it out?
Comments (25)I think a big part of the problem is that the flooring does not go with that vanity - at all. If you like the flooring, ditch the vanity for something in a grey or black tone. I don't dislike the flooring, but I hate it with that vanity. If you dislike the flooring, get rid of it. I spent a fortune on dichroic glass tile I hate on my kitchen backsplash, and wish I had torn it out and replaced it the first time I saw it installed....See MoreRNmomof2 zone 5
