Consider pulling the seating away from the walls and closer to the TV and to each other in an L with one facing the big window instead of it's back to the window.

If you pull the sofa currently under the smaller window towards the TV, you could put a console table and stools behind it to use for eating while watching TV...2 people. Or it could be used as a serving table during larger gatherings. Alternatively, provide the floor plans and measurements and we can help you find dining space in your large room if you want. How many pey live here please?

As it is, I think there is room for a dining table and chairs between this room and the kitchen. My mother had a setup like yours but the room was smaller. It can be done if you want.

Are you asking for end tables that can second as an eating area? There are lift tables..check out Wayfair. I do think your current over stuffed seating does not lend itself for comfortable table eating. The light fixture above the window with no curtains makes me wonder if that is where the previous owners had a table for eating. Your rug is pretty small in the space. Once you get things tightened up as you plan perhaps there's room there for a table?

@arcy_gw I guess for now I should just focus on side tables and/or coffee table. I don't want to over clutter the area because it's the only living area we have and we'll eventually need room for baby stuff. The previous owners actually had a table to the left window. Your point about the light next to the right window makes sense though!

If you are worried about the couches in an L-shape then maybe across from each other would be preferable. A table and chairs in the space by the small window then? Is there room for that? Do you have a table to try there? It's hard to tell not being there. Can you take more photos showing how the room relates to nearby spaces and what kind of space there actually is? A room diagram would help but I know how annoying that is to hear.

To answer your basic question, what kind of tables to have… Sorry to digress to arrangement but that helps dictate the tables… Anything but ottomans. Those sofas are so big and so overstuffed. The last thing you need is something that looks like a big pillow. You are at the beginning of your lives and I don't think those sofas will last long. So I also wouldn't try to hard to make the tables go with the sofas. With a new family starting, you likely aren't ready for investment pieces that might be damaged by toys. I like the idea of investing in furniture designed for outdoor living for young families. When you buy all new replacement furniture, you will then have tables for your outdoor space you aren't even thinking about now. Outdoor furniture can be very pretty, and when the baby barfs on it or spills cereal you take it outside and hose it down, let it dry and bring it back in. The furniture, not the baby.

My guess is you don't want a coffee table with reclining sofas. You'd rather have lightweight tables that can be moved around to wherever you need them at the moment. Make sense?

Also, and this is none of my business, so please feel free to ignore me on this one... It is possible for baby stuff to stay in baby's room. You don't need it in your living room. And you really don't need as much "stuff" for baby as the world will try to push on you. All babies want one toy more than any other... Parents! Parents are the best toy in the whole world! They're soft and cuddly, they're very interesting, and they do all sorts of interesting things! Don't feel pressured to buy educational toys. Just do stuff with them. Don't feel pressured to buy fitness toys for them, just let them learn from you how to exercise. Of course, that means you devote a lot of your precious time to them, and I remember being completely exhausted. But you'll get used to that. I am so excited for you on your new adventure of parenthood. But you do it however you want. I just wanted to let you in on the secret that you don't really need baby "stuff", and you certainly don't need it in your living room. :-)

I wish I had saved the link. I got them googling "outdoor nested tables" or you could save the image as a screenshot and use Google lense to find them. When I did both, I found many options for under $100. Just double check ther you can use them outdoors someday.
