Your experience with Cloe tile in White - what color is it?
Comments (395)@Christina Olson- THANK YOU for posting pics of your kitchen! I have the same Sherwin Williams Alabaster on my cabinets. I have been tormented trying to get a similar off-white tile or tile that has shades of white and off-white that are similar to SW Alabaster. I had reluctantly chosen Cloe in white glossy rectangles but your pictures have reassured me that white Cloe tiles will work. I am using stainless steel countertops for the perimeter counters and a porcelain slab for my island that is a composite of beach tones- sand, sea-shell orange brown, blue, blue-grey, & copper in the mix of white & off-white - See picture. I love my slab since I got a copper farmhouse/ front apron sink which goes over blue island cabinets. See- picture. I plan on tiling the entire kitchen countertop to the ceiling around my windows so there are no painted walls in the kitchen (cabinets go to ceiling). After reading additional posts, I will buy extra and filter out the tiles that are too grey. I have seen some Cloe white tile boxes with predominantly grey tiles and I have seen other Cloe white boxes that have more off-white variations....See MoreBedrosians Cloe tile spacing/grout
Comments (72)@Lisa Perez You only need to seal the grout, not the tile. Cloe is glazed tile and sealer should not be applied. You are sealing to protect the grout from stains and discoloring and make it easier to clean. It should be done every 6-12 months, depending on how heavy use and washing. If you don't want to see the grout, Custom Brand bright white is a better choice than grey. Make sure you use the matching tile caulk and not grout where the countertop meets the tile, otherwise it will crack. Given your white cabinets, white grout will give you the clean white kitchen look if that is what you are after. Not sure what your benchtops will be, however, with farm sink and black hardware, the modern farmhouse look can certainly call for contrating grout. But in my opinion, is not as classic and may date faster than all white. If you are worried about keeping it clean, the very lightest greys also are close match to the tile, I used Ash in our laundry room. It almost disappears, but I did not use the whitest tiles and omited them. (I posted photos of both above, but photos are never true to life). But almost all the greys available will give you contrast and you will definitely notice the grout more, and the tile will not be the star. It is a different look and doesn't seem to be what you are after. It also depends on how much natural light and what kind of artifical light you have if you can pull off a grey and not have it pull too much focus. If you have tile left, I suggest you make a sample board and try a few different grout options. and hold it up so you can see what it will look like. There is no turning back once you start. If you don't have time or resources for that extra step, go with white (Custom Brand Bright White) and seal it well and often, especially behind cooking zones. Good luck....See MoreCloe tile trim / edging
Comments (3)As a first-timer, I fretted over which approach to take. I went with white metal Schluter for the edges and for where I tiled into the windowsill. In all scenarios, when looking ”head on” I have the skinny part of the Schluter facing forward. I like it; it seems to mostly disappear....See MoreBest schluter and grout for Bedrosians cloe white tile?
Comments (9)I’m very satisfied with how Avalanche turned out. Very neutral in matching—not bright, not dark. Make sure you have a skilled installer for smooth finish. Apparently, ours wasn’t and our tiles aren’t smooth and it’s a rustic look which is okay but would rather it be smooth. But I couldn’t tell until installer washed grout off and too late. Also if you use Cloe, since the tiles are variegated colors, lay them out ahead in order you want, to avoid areas of same color or other undesirable pattern. Consider stacking tiles for a more non-traditional look. All that being said, I love this Cloe tile....See MoreMegan S.
