Best layout of double vanity sink
Comments (9)Do you have the vanity picked out? It really depends on where the sink openings are, if you are doing a standard 60 or 72 inch double vanity they usually have drawers or a cupboard in the middle and sinks on the sides, so you would put a single tambour storage in the middle. Of course, with 96" you could do 2 48" vanities side by side, those could be mirror images of each other, so you could place wherever you want but remember code says 30" minimum center to center, NKBA recommendations are 36". Does the 96" give room to walk by without banging a hip (for example, I have 74" from corner to door trim, but I wouldn't put a 72" vanity in b/c 2" is too close to door for my comfort, even though there is no interference)? As far as countertop storage, most bathroom vanities are 22" deep, that's not deep enough for anything behind the sinks. You can gain a couple more inches (height and depth) by using kitchen cabinets, but still it would be very shallow storage. Not sure what you mean by "back of counter". Have you considered a "tower" between the sinks or flanking them for deeper storage? houzz has thousands of pictures if you're looking for examples. HTH and I just haven't confused you. Comments (15)I'd center the microwave in that section...pull it away from the deeper cab on the right.....that corner created by the side of the deeper cab isn't where you want to stand to use the microwave. You probably don't want it all the way to the left end because of fridge? Is that right? I would not assume a door would work on the mwave cab....air and outlet space needed,so the face usually sticks out a bit and you only have 18 in[unless you can get more by going behind drywall] Are you avoiding a pinchpoint generally in this area between the fridge users and this counter area right behind fridge?.....no dimensions are shown....Is hanging the spacemaker under that wall cab out of the question? I think it would be smoother to use for people coming from the open room to rewarm/etc and yours is a social space. The higher spot would actually be quicker for people to use than bending over....they'd be done and out of the way, whereas you basically must lift the item out of a base unit/can't really stir or see very well....perhaps a mwave drawer would solve some of this ....but you need the 24 in depth which means borrow some inches from the center, deeper cab....See MoreKitchen final layout (placement/size of island)
Comments (22)Here's my thoughts. I would use this one because it gives you the most aisle space. i would flip what I assume is a 42" fridge (hard to read the measurements) with the cabinet so the fridge is closer to the sink area. This also takes away the problem of the width of the aisle. Less walking around the island and it will still look fine to have cabinets on the left of the fridge. It acts as a landing zone for fridge stuff, etc. While 48" for stools to pull out behind at the island may not be ideal, it is certainly doable. I made the island smaller so you have 48" between the island and the cooktop. That is the one place I feel you really want the space wide enough because of the safety issue. I like that you have 44" between the sink and island, and even 42" is fine. I also moved your sink down so it's not centered over the window but closer to the cooktop while still having a window view. Again this was done only so you're closer to the fridge but the prep space may be more important....See MoreKitchen drawer layout on lower cabinets - need suggestions
Comments (18)@mama goose_gw zn6OH I was not planning on extra cabinets under the seating overhang, just the pony wall for support & for looks. Extra cabinets would be nice but I don't think it would work well with the seating. If I have to choose between comfortable seating or more cabinets under the island, the seating will win for us. The spice idea is neat but I agree that I'm not sure if it would work or not. I will keep it in mind though, for sure! I like the idea of the wider drawers. Suggestions on depths that are best? I like to store things vertically, when possible. It may not always be possible though. And, good idea about framing the panel out by the microwave. lol! @wilson853 Thank you for the suggestions! I'll see about the spice idea if there is any room in the design for it. Good to hear from someone who has the storage idea I had mentioned with the utensil bins. It seems like such a good use of storage because my utensil drawers get very messy fast, within 1 meal after organizing it. So, I though just put it vertically and not worry about it. lol! It should make my ocd self happier. I think....See Morestm25rs
