Update: Guest bedroom yellow no more
Comments (11)Thanks everyone! cherigw, I did like the yellow, but after awhile I started to feel it was almost like a children's room. Maybe it's the trend lately with the warm greys, but I always like greyed colors in general. Honestly, I liked the yellow in late afternoon but hated it in the morning. If I were to paint yellow again, I would make sure it's not lemony but more like EK Honeysuckle or Restoration Hardware Butter, which I have in my kitchen. My mom's whole apt.(my basement) is yellows so I feel I have yellow in there as well. After seeing Pirula's photos of her bedroom I knew I wanted something similar. It was either between off white and Stony ground. Stony ground won out because it was a bit deeper in color for the bright sunlit room. Thanks everyone again. I feel like I finally got a color right! I was feeling so down on myself because I wasn't 100% thrilled with my living room choice....See MoreGuest Bedroom--Please Help Me Design
Comments (12)Autumn, I would suggest that you look at nightanddayfurniture.com. You say this will be a seldom used room you don't want to put a lot of $$$ into. However, you want it to look nice. Furniture made by this company is ready to assemble (rta). I've had their Chameleon bed for about four years, and it still looks like new. At that time cost was about $550 for a double bed. It has a lot of custom options. The headboard panels pop off if you want to cover with your own fabric. The bedrail adjusts to two different heights. Other accessories include roll out under bed drawers and a fold out footboard bench. Matching nightstands, dressers, chests, mirrors, and desks are also available. I purchased less expensive wood rta under bed drawers from another company and stained them to match the bed. Two drawers were $110 and push further under so I'm not hitting my toes when making the bed in the morning. I only use a foam mattress, no box springs, and all guests have commented how well they sleep. They also have a four poster bed, rattan bed, and other styles. Unlike you, my bedroom is tiny. I used an entertainment drawer with a supporting corbel beneath from Kraftmaid on each side of the bed to allow easy access to the under bed drawers. These are in white and the bed is stained cherry. I purchased a rta cherry coffee table from Night & Day and cut up the top so the night stand tops would match the bed. The bottom line is to use your imagination to do what best meets your needs....See Morehelp with guest bedroom make over
Comments (104)Another option I don’t see in photos is to place the dresser on the same wall as the bed but on the left side. Dresser can act as a bedside table of sorts and will balance small table and closet door, which carries a lot of visual weight if it stays white, on the right side of the bed. Like the idea of painting door and trim same blue as wall... Like the chair best in corner by the window away from the bed. Also like dresser on wall opposite bed with chair in the corner by the window. A simple vase with flowers in it or ceramic pot with greenery would set the dress off nicely. Thanks for posting pictures for us to see! Great progress...See MoreThinking about a loft bed for guest bedroom.
Comments (8)I agree teens will sleep anywhere and especailly boys. I think you need to think about the other guests you get and share that with us if you truly want help. IMO no adults want to have bunk beds. We have 2 gest rooms but usually one is used by an International student for the school year we have a single bed in that space and a queen in the other room . Once a summer we have 21 young adults who stay on hteir way to a music festival for one night and then return for a week stay they sleep where ever there is a flat spot and it is just pure fun.IMO you have a good sized rook but you do not need the desk set up and honestly in a guest room a small dresser inside the closet is all you need . Post a to scale plan maybe there is a way to layout the space with 2 queen beds ....See MoreCindy Figueroa
