Revere Pewter & Dark Green

Has anyone had success with a warm, dark green in the same palette as Revere Pewter? I’m about to get dark green cabinets (prefer warm vs cool greens which goes with more in my home). I’ve tried a ton of colors — dark green is best for us. I know I can, and am willing if I must repaint my entire main floor that is revere pewter, but hoping to find a color where I won’t have to. Do you think BM Dark Olive or Tuscany Green would work? Other suggestions?

I think this could look beautiful. I prefer the dark olive to the Tuscany green. Dekton makes a surface called Argo which could be very nice with these colors:

I had, and have, no pink anywhere, either. The colors in that library were all greens and terracottas and sisal and medium and dark toned woods...so the important thing was to keep it very peachy. The effect was to warm the neutrality of the gray. If you were to choose a blue, you might find the effect colder than you like. If you wanted to stay with the warm idea, but are a little put off by the pink idea, there's also a nice color adjacent to Melon Tint called French Vanilla (SW 7118) that is a little yellower, but still peachy. Whatever you decide, try to make sure you are choosing a tone that is light reflective rather than light absorbing...and be sure to look at your sample board -- you will make a sample board, won't you... :>) -- in the plane in which it will live...that is, stuck to the ceiling beside the trim. You want to avoid what my DH calls the V.A. Hospital effect, when a soft neutral appears in an unhelpful light condition. End of lecture!

I think the term you mean is Light Reflectance Value (LRV). I have SW and BM fan decks, and see that Trusty Tan has an LRV of 37. Revere Pewter's LRV is 52.3, and Edgecomb Gray's is 64.6. The higher the LRV, the more light is reflected off the wall. I have linked an online article about LRV written by 'funcolors' who often posts on this board. I wonder if I added molding to the lower walls the columns sit on and painted them white, would they look more like built-in pieces and help to divide the family room from the foyer and nook better? That way I would have the option of painting the foyer and upstairs hallway a different color, maybe Revere Pewter, since it does better in that lighting. How would you handle a home that has three different areas of light? Zone 1 being the foyer/front of house (north sunlight), zone 2 the middle part of the house (kitchen, nook, family room with all indirect sunlight), and zone 3 the morning room (east, south, west sunlight).

Yes, just be sure to get samples of both the paint color and the counter top to make sure it works. Doing this off computer screens is never accurate.

@kandrewspa yes! we have a ton of natural light particularily in the afternoon when the sun is setting behind the mountains — the back of our house is lined with windows. I’ve tried light cabinets and it is blinding haha … thats how weve landed on dark green
