Should we paint our vaulted ceiling same as wall color?

My husband and I are remodeling our home. When we moved in last year we knew we had to bring it out of the 1990s! With that being said all the golden oak is getting painted. We have decided to paint our doors and trim BM Chantilly lace and walls BM white dove. Which brings me to our dilemma Do we do our vaulted ceiling in Chantily lace? i think it would be a nice contrast. Everything I’ve found online says match walls with ceiling. I I’m not sure what to do. I’d like to add eventually will add faux beams across the ceili also Any thoughts are welcome I’ll attach pics, pardon the mess :)

Yes, absolutely. Ceiling does look higher. The whole space feels more open, cleaner, and airy. It's a pleasure to be there, after 25+ years of being kind of a utilitarian space. So there's hope for all of those boring spaces in our homes, y'all!

14 years ago we painted our walls and trim the same color and I'm planning to do it again when we re-paint the entire house very soon. Our house was built in 1938 with an addition at some point in the 1950's, but there's nothing remarkable about the details or the trim. We chose 2 colors for most of the house - a light to midtone for the front, or public part of the house, and a darker color for the private bedrooms in the back. The child's room was a completely different color, but all 3 work well together. Having the walls and trim the same color gives our older home a more contemporary, minimal vibe.

I read elsewhere that if you paint the ceilings and walls the same color, the ceiling will look darker. I just painted my ceilings a bright flat white, and walls SW Snowbound, which has that slight beige undertone that Balboa Mist has. I don’t think you can go wrong, but see if you can get a sample to test a swatch on the walls as whites pick up surrounding colors and look different depending on furnishings and N,S,E, or W exposures.

I'd add, forget faux beams.: ) Too much "opening" clutter already up there. Unless there is a plan we don't see in the "remodel" word

No fake beams and IMO the same color on the ceiling as the walls since you are going vwery light I actually would not have mixed the whites just use one for all but the trim satin or semigloss and the walls and ceiling matte . Is there awy to declutter the ceiling and the wall where the door is . Too much going on IMO to have 2 whites .

Thanks for the feedback. Most of the ”remodel” will be in kitchen. I thought perhaps beams would create some warmth/coziness in the house. I really dont care for this ceiling at all!Heres a pic of whole thing.

Covers our living/dining area and kitchen.

Agree with the ”already too busy” ceiling comments. Paint everything the same and don’t add anything new.

I do think painting the ceilings and walls the same when it's a fairly pale neutral color like BM White Dove will work best.

In my opinion, beams would likely be too busy looking with the skylight cutouts you already have. You could maybe pull off a single large beam along the peak, but I would definitely not do any more than that. Even a single beam is probably going to be busy looking.
