Marble quartz on countertops and island

So, I went ahead and put these on hold ahead of time (my kitchen cabinets are still not here). Was wondering if any company had a more natural looking quartz than this color.

Keep in mind I need the book-matching slabs so I can do the waterfall edge

Is there a quartz that looks more like marble than this? Please help

Hey Avigail,

I do like your choice, I googled that stone and I think I found one better.

This is called Calacatta Bellezza from Verona Quartz it is a soft marble look with a classic marble feel.

Thank you both for all the info! What I'm gathering is that man-made materials (I'm including quartz surfaces in that bunch) are fabricated at a standard thickness, and the edges are glued together to appear more substantial. On natural materials, however, your answer is what I was expecting/hoping for, mnhockeymom - it didn't seem right to glue two marble slabs together! I will work with the stone yards to find the right slab. If anyone has any other materials in interesting thicknesses, I'd love to hear about them / see pics to see how yours came to be. Thank you!!

How are your "marble like quartz" kitchen countertops holding up?

My quartz countertops are not technically in the "marble look" list, though people have asked me if they are marble. It has some of the same colors, but not the pattern. I've had them for one year and so far no issues. They look just like the day they were installed. In fact, I just ordered a piece for my island, which has a butcher block piece. One thing I like about mine is that the pattern is such that the seam barely shows. I have also seen my quartz on mid tone wood, dark wood and white cabinets. However, the overall look is warm, so it might not work with a cool gray. Hi everyone so it’s been a year now. After searching and searching, we ended up tearing all the tops out and doing MT Blanc quartzite everywhere. There are beautiful! However I’m still looking for a good dealer (the one i used doesn’t block oil very well).

I generally don't express this opinion because I am in the clear minority and unlike Patricia Colwell I don't feel a need to convince anyone that I'm right. And right off the bat I will have offended the many people who have chosen marble-look quartz for their kitchens. It's not personal. Your kitchens are lovely. Bear with me, though, because I'm going somewhere with this. I don't care for marble-look quartz, and I have yet to see any that I thought looked convincing (note to Lauren--I'm interested to know what products you thought looked convincing, not saying they aren't out there, just that I haven't seen them). The porcelain products look convincing. You know what else does a pretty good job of faking the pattern of marble? Laminate. It won't pass Patricia's hot pot test, and it won't pass for real marble because the edges of laminate counters always look like laminate no matter how good the pattern looks. But they create the pattern by taking a picture of real marble, so the patterns are actually quite good. Maybe laminate is too low-brow for your mom. Maybe her kitchen is so big that the pattern would have to repeat, which would undermine the effect. But maybe it will suit her needs. Wilsonart Calacatta Lincoln I thought was the most likely fit (below) but you could also look at Wilsonart Drama Marble and Anzio marble and maybe Formica Calacatta Cava. there have been a lot of discussions on here about quartz waterfall edges - some that worked and some that didn’t — I would do some research and see what you think. You can search using the bubble at the top left of the page by the Houzz logo

I'm still getting used to using Houzz, but I have checked and none talk about the countertop selection for quartz that looks like marble. Besides picking out the right colors in my kitchen I want to see what is out there

For sure - I just don't think all quartz brands are created equal - I think book matching is easier with some brands than others. A suggestion would be to start with the higher quality quartz brands and then see what's available (rather than starting with the color/pattern).

An even easier way to start would be to select your fabricator (who should be very experienced and have photos of successful waterfalls to show you) then work with them on your quartz selection - they will have a lot of suggestions to share with you

True that, I've been to many slab yards in Los Angeles and with most of them you can't get an exact vein matching calacatta. I have to talk to my contractor so we can get some info from our fabricator! Thats a great idea, thank you!
