Help!!! This entrance needs help!
Comments (7)Aside from the shrubs, as is, I like this entrance. If and when your shrubs grow and fill in between them and you can trim them a uniform height just above the floor level, that will be an improvement. Perhaps you could move the shrubs closest to the railing to a bare spot between the other shrubs. Adding a pair of large planters -- one on each side of the steps -- with something to add color could improve curb appeal. There are pressed metal exterior wall decorations that might be added to the brick -- either on each side of the opening or something (for instance, a sun) above it. https://www.google.com/search?biw=1366&bih=650&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=mo5aWq3LHIfq_AbCx6y4CQ&q=image+pressed+metal+art+sun&oq=image+pressed+metal+art+sun&gs_l=psy-ab.3...3441.3954.0.6553.4.4.0.0.0.0.76.282.4.4.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..0.0.0....0.BYK8FJEkONU...See MoreNeed help with entry door design dilemma
Comments (8)Thanks Patricia. FYI This is not a new build and nothing is ideal...Garage faces the street and the front door originally faced the backyard! We're moving front door to side and put in a walkway from drive parking area to entry door. We will also have an arbor/fence between driveway and entry door to further define. The difference with 1 and 3 are the grills. I do like the full glass options and the more modern look of 1 (have seen this grill mix successfully done on other homes) but wonder if its right for this house. The inside of the house is more modern than traditional - vaulted ceilings, beams, minimal moldings, some shiplap. My last house was over 100 years old so it was a no brainer for style. This one is alittle trickier....See MoreNeed help with entrance stairs/rails
Comments (5)Dig a bit deeper. There are precast steps that look more natural like stone. https://www.edsconcrete.ca/steps-precast-stone You might be able to go over what you have. I don't like the fake gray stone on the retaining walls. It doesn't complement what little I can see of the house. I would select a minimal wrought iron handrail for this installation. You might be able to purchase it online and have it installed...See MoreHELP! Should entry door match hardwood floor and stairs?
Comments (11)Make things you walk on one finish and things you walk through another finish, it will help to alleviate any confusion if such issue arrises. The trim acts as a frame to present doors and windows and such and should have some continuity in the interior design of the home....See Morejackowskib
