Comments (3)I am not familiar with cork and have not seen it in any showrooms. Our main concern is durability and how easily it cleans, plus i wear heels and i don't want tiny shoe holes all over my kitchen floor...See MoreNeed help with exterior elevation of our modern home
Comments (50)The formal living room will not be used very often. I'd like to have it a bit separate from the rest of the business of the house for a few reasons: 1-my husband sometimes has informal board meetings for non-profit organizations at the house. 2-my MIL stays with us for around 6-7 months every year and it's a nice place for her to sit and have tea with her friends 3-dads usually retreat to the formal living during gatherings when they want to have their serious discussions (ie: sports, politics etc...) The dining room is used mostly for: 1-older kids HW 2-projects 3-formal dinner parties So I don't really mind if these 2 areas aren't well-integrated with the rest of the house. The major bustling will be from the garage to family room, kitchen, game room, stairs and bedrooms. I also wanted the kitchen to be in the corner of the house so that I could open windows and air out after cooking. Also, we have a 15' easement in our backyard so we needed to pull the pool into the building line so that we could build a pool enclosure around it. My 4 daughters will have the 2 bedrooms to the left of the house and my 3 sons will have the 2 bedrooms at the center front of the house, and our master bedroom tucked away in the corner back. So this is how the floor plan played out keeping all those factors in mind....See MoreHELP! What to do with our 1960’s exterior on our rural property?!
Comments (12)The only thing I dislike about the colors is that garish green around the roof I would paint that to match the gutters IMO it is not something you want to highlight. I have no idea about the stucco since I don’t know when it was done. I would replace the siding with the composite suggested and IMO since this is not a craftsman house I would not start trying to make it one unless you have a big money tree.. I would not do a black door but the black railings work IMO. What I really don’t like is all the asphalt up to the doorstep. Maybe take a picture from further back so we can see the whole property...See MoreHELP!!!! Please help me modernize the exterior of my home
Comments (30)I agree w/ tozmo about disliking black and thinking that a creamy color would complement your brick and stone better. Re window boxes, I'm in z5 so they're planted from the end of May until the frost kills them (usually Sep or Oct). One year I decided to fill them with stems of silk mums for autumn, then switch to silk poinsettias right after Thanksgiving. I didn't anticipate the mums being frozen solid in the soil until late April. LOL!!! Fwiw, I now use fresh cut evergreens for my window boxes in the winter and love the look....See MoreHALLETT & Co.
