Carpet help! Tuftex Diego or Dixie Teton

I was really hoping to find someone that had either of these carpets in their home that could send some real life pics! I’m having a hard time choosing which one and which color!
I’d also love feedback on wear and tear for either brand. Tia!

Thanks for your input but I’m not asking whether or not to use carpet.

First wall to carpet is IMO never a good choice . Maybe in a master bedroom but really a nice hard surface flooring is just better We will need to know hwere this is going and your life including, kids , pets etc. I have found LVP is cheaper and much easier to keep clean and if resale is part of the plan for sure no wall to wall carpet.

Oh good Lord! As if I wasn't already torn between the Tuftex and the Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. After reading these earlier comments I am really baffled! Originally I started my search for carpet by looking at nylon only since I heard that it is much better than polyester for wear and tear. But I happened into another carpet store today that carries both Karastan (Mohawk) and Shaw and the sales person seemed to push me towards the SmartStrand carpet. She wanted to show me the Karastan carpet that has been underfoot in their store for the last 10 years. She proceeded to push a heavy display fixture out of the way so that I could see how the carpet sprung back. It was amazing! Plus she pointed out that the SmartStrand's stain protection never washes out, while the Shaw Stainmaster protection washes out after 3 professional carpet cleanings. I am so confused on which way to go. And I need to make a decision quickly since I will be moving into my new home soon. The former owner left me with a surprising welcome gift---183 square yards of dog-urine stained carpeting. It was so filthy that I gagged several times while pulling it up and dragging it out to the garage. So I will be replacing all of that filthy floor covering with new carpet and my head is spinning as to which choice to make. Although my head could still be spinning from inhaling the very strong shellac that I had to use to "seal" any dog urine odors from making their way up from the sub floor. UGH!

Hi - I am Renee, a transplanted Northerner now living in Central Florida. I first moved here after 9/11 and didn't think I would stay but I love it now - except for the hurricanes. I am 48 and single, have a wonderful BF and live with four kitties - Jack (orange and white tabby), Ernie (fat brown tabby), Lola (brown Maine Coon) and Kaci (black and white Maine Coon mix). I have recently taken up two fun hobbies. The first is raising Monarch butterflies. I just had another girl yesterday morning. I am mesmerized by the whole process. The second is geocaching. Stanton, Mashland, Karastan (higher end) are wonderful products, and I would go wool. However, Smart Strand is a good medium priced option. Agree with Elizabeth B…the padding makes a huge difference. I always recommend SmartStep. It has a waterproof barrier which keeps spills (and other liquids…(woof, woof) from seeping into the pad. Ever tried to remove a stain from a rug, think you have accomplished it and two days later it is back? It is because the culprit is in the pad and not the rug. If. the pad needs to be seemed, have the seem duct taped or as I have always called the product DuckTape.

I am also looking for carpet right now. Definitely nylon or wool. I have heard polyester, Triexta, others aren't as durable. In the higher-priced category, Fabrica has some nice different designs. I have narrowed my search to Tuftex and Masland (which is the same company as Fabrica). Dixie Home also has some nice ones.

Have you taken these samples home to look at them next to whatever will be in this room? It's possible only one of them will look good with what you already own which would make the decision easier.

@Hbg28 - I love your response above!

I don't have either of these carpets, but I may be able to help with the color selection.

When looking at the picture the gold carpet underneath is showing me how much pink/purple undertone is in the color that is on top. The one on the bottom is lighter and more neutral.

What you need to know is how each of these colors works with your wall color, adjacent flooring, furniture. . .

What are the other colors in this room that are not changing. If those colors worked well with the gold carpet it is unlikely that they will also look good with the purple undertones of the top taupe color.

The whole room is getting redone- walls, carpet, and furniture. I’m actually leaning towards the one the bottom and that color is one of the options I’m considering. There are two other nice color choices in that particular carpet so I’m going to try and get some larger
Samples to see what works best with my couch (swatch in pics).

The internet is never the best way to look at colors, but from what I am seeing I prefer the top swatch to the other two. The middle one feels a bit yellow/gold and the bottom a bit too gray.

I love the top one. It actually has a very light gray and beige running through it making it so neutral, versatile, and soft looking. My only concern is whether or not it’ll be too light for this high traffic room. It’s 100% nylon but I just hope it hides a bit of the inevitable dirt!

Both are good quality Nylon carpets so wear-wise you're fine with either. I sell flooring for a living and I'm more partial to Tuftex (but that's only because our vendor for Dixie is so rarely here to check in).
