Brick Backsplash with Honey Oak Cabinets?

Doing a "minor" kitchen update. Disclaimer, posted previously but can't edit the other post.
Countertops, cabinets and tile floor are staying, drop ceiling is going to be updated to a nicer tile (kitchen is in the basement). West facing window but wall color will be painted Sherwin Williams Tradewind (for now), undercabinets lights will be added and ceilings lights updated to all recessed. My question relates to the backsplash. Our home is brick and we have exposed brick in the dinning room. We discovered some brick when removing existing tile and somewhat like it with the cabinets (honey oak). Would a brick veneer like the attached look good with the cabinets, floor and countertops? Any other ideas? Although using Tradewind for now may change to a cream (Steamed Milk maybe) but all rooms are shades of griege, gray/blues.
Any color ideas and backsplash ideas would be appreciated.. thank you!

I would keep the backsplash very simple due to the pattern in the cabinet grain and floor. The brick is nice but not practical when it comes to the cleaning a backsplash needs.

We have light oak cabinets in shaker style with brushed nickel hardware. We chose uba tuba granite counters which look black from a distance and up close you see flecks of gold, aqua, light grey. The color contrast looks very nice. This look could fit a variety of kitchen styles. No regrets with choosing either light oak cabinets or this granite.

Holly springs that is my exact concern, that it would be difficult to clean/keep clean and defeat the purpose. Do you know the name of the Daltile tile that looks like brick? I want the brick look with the functionality of tile. I only want it all :) EAM44, the floors are custom concrete and we love them. They were here when we bought the house. Everyone who walks in the door bends down to touch them, asks what it is and says how much they love it. The brick on left is pretty light with cream and gray tones, not really any brown, which is why I liked it, that it kept things lighter but pulled the ivory and gray in the counter tops. The one on the right seems too dark to me. I like the cotton colored firetile glazed brick. I just ordered a sample. The snow color (shown above) only comes in a gloss finish and the cotton comes in satin, which is what I prefer. I'm also going to a show room to see some travertine that is supposed to look like brick as well. The island and built in hutch in my kitchen are the creamy ivory color of the cabinets in the picture. The island is 5.5x9.5 and the hutch is also good sized, so that adds to the lightness. I know it's not what is in direct contact with the backsplash, but it is a big color in our kitchen. I am also choosing a lighter color for the brick than the picture.

Yes, I will post pics after the install. I am not changing the lighting bc I have done all I can to make it as bright as possible in there. One of my reasons for doing this remodel is because it is so dark in my kitchen. I have under and upper cabinet lighting, the one fixture over the island, and one light above the sink. My electrician said it is impossible to install recessed (can) lighting elsewhere because there is a second story above the kitchen. I call BS on that, but he has told me this many times. How is it possible to put a man on the moon, but not possible to put recessed lighting in my kitchen? We were young when we built this house and had no clue about these things when we were having the plans drawn. I would change so many things......

Brick will be a maintenance nightmare. For the same look in something you can clean, maybe look at brick-look tile.

If you really want brick, then it needs to be a different brick. The brick in your picture, does not go with anything in your kitchen. Personally, I would look for a nice subway type tile.

Thank you all so far for the comments and suggestions. @cat_ky agree on subway tile... unfortunately the better half does not like it, even the tile with slight texture so that is out. Not set on the brick.. however if we did that what color variation would tie colors or compliment? Like a lighter/cream/white or grays with darker variation. Honestly even looking at potentially a peel/stick wallpaper. Again.. appreciate the comments and keep em coming

I wouldn't do gray, it will be too stark of a contrast with the honey-colored cabinets. I would look for a handmade style tile with slight variations in color and texture.

Why is your SO opposed to subway tile? Is it the typical bright white color or the shape? These are technically not subway but close. They have a slight variation in color and the shape is different.

Oak cabinets are bossy, bring home a sample to be sure the tile color works with the cabinet color and your light.
