Don't know that I'd want to advertise having tools for "gourmet" meals... maybe more like well equiped kitchen? At a beach place... a BIG pot should be way up on list... multi-tasker for pasta, crabs, lobsters, clams, mussels. WOuld want a few SHARP knives! Pots/pans... a few sauce pans & skillets. Some big bowls for mixing, serving, salads. My sister has a place in WV mountains that she rents out as much as possible. She has a lot of thing that most would not expect in a vacation place... like blander, food proccessor, hand (not stand) mixer... and a bunch of other stuff that came from our dad's house. Says she buy decent (but inexpensive) non-stick skillets several times a year... renters tend to "drive them like it's not theirs"!? Has a gas grill on deck. One bunch of renters called main office to complain that it didn't work... ended up they didn't turn gas ON!! Another ground couldn't get the lava rocks in GAS grill to burn... so tossed them over side of deck and burned WOOD instead... on the GAS! Thinking some kinda roasting pan would be nice. Whenever I went on ski vacations with friends, we'd cook a few BIG meals... like a whole turkey, ham, big meatloaf. They'd be a full meal and then we'd just pick at them till gone. Maybe some basic herbs/spices? Definitely S&P... maybe iin those grinder thingies. Decent cork screw and can opener. Assortment of metal and wood/silicone tools. GRILL tools... BIG fork, spatula, tongs, wire brush. Whenever something goes missing, she assumes renters destroyed it?? As long as nothing major... oh, well!

There was a similar silver colored tool packed with my vanity light fixtures and it is for tightening/ loosening a plastic ring that holds the glass shade in place. It is another place were you can't get your fingers in so you need the tool if you need to remove the shade for any reason. If your fixture has glass shades look inside for a ring holding the shade.

I found it. I just couldn't believe I found it. My son was helping me move some boxes in the shop today. One of the boxes came apart and everything spilled out. I told him go back out to play, I'll fix the box and pick it all up. I found a thick plastic bag with some oddball stuff in it. It kinda jogged my memory so I started poking thru the stuff. And in it was that guage. I went and found my son and told him how greatful I was that he spilled that box. That tool has been missing since before he was born. First thing he asks, "Do I get a reward?" To which I gave him these words of wisdom. "A smile of gratitude is the best reward you can get." But at least I found it. I can finally get my planer blades sharpened. Told my wife now we need to get a safety deposit box to put it in. And only let it out under armed escort. Pooh Bear

I'm in the middle of a library/office build, and the cabinet carcasses are all 3/4 birch ply, the shelves doubled up 3/4" ply. As to the box construction, where a fixed shelf or partition meets a sidewall I plow a 1/4" by 3/4" dado into the sidewall to capture the shelf. Where carcass tops and bottoms meet the sidewalls, I plow a 1/4" by 3/4" rabbet in the top/bottom edges of the sidewalls. I use 1/2" ply for the backs and plow a 1/2" by 1/2" rabbet in the back edges of the sides/top/bottom to capture the back panel and square the box. Screws? I never use drywall screws. I glue (titebond) and screw 3/4" birch to 3/4" birch with 1-5/8" screws. And use 1-1/4" screws when screwing the 1/2" ply back to the 3/4" ply sides. If using veneered MDF core sheets, I'll use confirmat screws. Brickeye gave you the link to McFeeleys, they are a great resource. Pre-drilling? For paint-grade cebinetry all I use is a properly sized and tapered countersink bit. I then putty the screw holes. As to the screws stripping out, if he's using fine threaded drywall screws that could be part of the problem. Fine threads are for metal studs. And while many people still use coarse threaded drywall screws for woodwork, drywall screws are for...drywall. Or his drill bit could be too large, it should not be larger in diameter than the diameter of the uncut screw shank. Slightly smaller is better for softwoods like birch ply. Or he needs a gentler touch with his drill trigger finger. Even if he goes to a box store and buys a box of coated deck screws, those would be better than drywall screws. Better threading, better shear and tension strength. Mongo
