Windows near showers can be good for ventilation of moist air. Otherwise, you can update the interior to look contemporary. Without messing with the outside of the house - how much changing of the latter component would you have to do before the house no longer looked 1960s? (Note also pre-1980 builds in particular should be sampled and tested for asbestos before tearing into walls and other surfaces).

If it were my house, I would remove the shutters and change the front door to a solid door - no glass. I would remove the bench - or replace it with a modern style in a dark wood that would fade into the background. And the rest I would put into enhanced/modern landscaping - and lighting on house and grounds.

Maybe a Tiffany blue on door.

The proportions are pretty good. The elements are well-balanced. I'd stop worrying about perfect symmetry and embrace the house as it is. It's like a husband --- not perfect, but beloved. Aim for that.

Don't bother to square up the porch overhang. Lots of bother, no one will notice.

I agree with @Sigrid that there's nothing wrong with your house's proportions. And that's the important thing. Very few houses are symmetrical and your is balanced, which is more important. The large garage door is balanced by the large window on the other side. The lack of perfect symmetry of the upstairs windows is hardly noticeable.

A few suggestions to make your house more attractive. Paint the downspouts to match what they're against e.g. a dark dull brown against the brick, charcoal against the roof.

Your porch lights and house numbers would look better if they were larger - more in proportion to the size of your house.

Some people might say to remove the shutters but I like them on the upstairs windows, although they would look better a bit wider. I would remove them on the lower windows.

It would be helpful to have a picture of your house taken at a different time of day, with the sun shining on it from the front. But from what I can see, you could make a big difference with some more landscaping. The shrubs between the walkway and the porch look like little balls. I agree that's a good place for evergreens but they could be more varied in shape and colour. The bed to the right would look better if it was deeper, at least as deep as the walkway and even better, curving around the walkway. Again, more variation in shape and colour of evergreens.

If you are really bothered by the porch overhang not going all the way across the house, a darker siding colour will help to camouflage that. But it doesn't bother me. Maybe someone with better computer skills can mock that up for you.

Nice house, doesn't need much work. Don't overspend on things that won't make a big difference.
