I would like advice on how to change out the hardware on my kitchen cabinets. I want to replace the knobs with sleek vertical handles but not sure exactly where to place them. Also, when I change out the existing knobs and handles, there will be holes in the cabinetry.
Is there a way to fill the holes in, and stain them so they aren’t noticeable?

It's highly unlikely that you can patch the holes and then stain them so they aren't noticeable. There may also be surface dents around the holes where the bases of the knobs sit. I suggest you take off some knobs to see how extensive the damage is, and then select new hardware that will cover any holes/dents when it is mounted. That will make this project less work and produce a better final result.

Thanks so much for the ideas! everdebz, the current knobs are made out of glass (Sietto brand). I love them, but they definitely don't coordinate with the coloring of the new backsplash. Patricia Colwell, do you mind explaining what ORB is? Thanks again!

You vary the size of the pull with the size of the door or drawer. That is why the manufacturers make different sizes of pulls. If you didn't have different sizes, you'd have small pulls look puny on larger doors/drawers, and large pulls look too big on smaller doors/drawers. For drawers, the rough rule of thumb is 1/3 the width of the drawer. For doors, it is best to make aluminum foil templates of the pull sizes you are considering, and hold them up to the doors, before you spend a bunch of money on the actual pulls.
