Comments (8)What climate are you in? They need a certain number of chilling hours in order to grow properly and flower each year. If you are new, you might as well start out with the good stuff and go with Itoh or intersectional peonies due to their hardiness, disease resistance, vigor, upright stems which do not require staking, and foliage/blooms that look like that of tree peonies. Herbaceous peonies tend to flop over from their own weight, attract lots of ants, and the foliage is prone to powdery mold after flowering while tree peonies can be a bit tricky to get established. On average, they are the most expensive, but I was able to get a good pretty good deal from an eBay seller when I purchased 5 large tubers which I was able to split into smaller sections like a potato. When they are dormant, they seem to be capable of producing new plants from any fragments that have at least 1 eye. I have attached a link to the blog on receiving my itoh peonies. Comments (13)Ryan If you are driving, you'd probably want to check this nursery out. It is Hall's Plant Nursery, but in Temecula though. Personally I haven't been there yet to give any reviews but if I need another tree, I would go there first next time. They run ads on Craigslist everyday and their prices look ridiculously good. If Simon is following this thread, he can give you pointers on the farmers market. He probably knew bunch of good spots. I also agree with NEWGEN. Good quality tropical fruits are found in OC. I always buy fruits when IâÂÂm up there also. Tim Here is a link that might be useful: one of Hall's plant nursery ad on craigslist...See MoreCorrection- Driving from San Diego to San Francisco
Comments (3)There is alot to see. If you go up interstate 5, that will take you up fast, 101 is scenic, but bad traffic. I personally would avoid LA area, Ventura has a nice mission, as does Santa Barbara. Bakersfield is nice also. Around Santa Nella is good, If you have children look for Montery Bay aquarimarine. Go to Auto Club and discuss what you want to see. Also go into the motels/hotels in your area and look for broucheurs. No matter where you go it will be fast heavy traffic. Go to the library, and look for Sunset Magazine. Lots of ads etc as the Coastal Mag also...See Morecolduphere
