Based on reviews from here, we went with Brookhaven. At that time (2008), the feedback I was seeing was that the paint finish was very durable and even. I was happy with the cabinets (we have since moved), nice construction and held up well. We had a few issues with the cabinet door fronts (shifted during shipping which exposed unpainted portions) but these were quickly replaced. I LOVED the kitchen designer that sold this line; great about finding options to reduce cost, making the most of the space etc. In our city more than one dealer carried Brookhaven, the first I went to was not as helpful and didn't seem interested in helping us reduce the cost. Not long before we renovated our kitchen, my mother renovated using a nice cabinet from Lowe's. The service and attention to detail that I received from the local company was outstanding, her experience was just ok. She had to really stay on top of them to correct problems.

Marcy, I also went back and forth whether to get stained or painted cabinets. DH wanted stained, I wanted painted. I got Medallion Brookville Divinity color cabinets in my new kitchen a year ago. I am very happy with the Divinity painted finished. I almost got the glazing, but I didn't. Although I really liked the glazing, along with the other "extra" finishes that Medallion offers, I was afraid that they would looked outdated too soon. JMHO I've attached some photos of my kitchen if you're interested. The appliances are bisque and I think they look really nice with the Divinity color. If you look a little closer, Diamond Intrigue from Lowe’s is actually Decora Cabinets, one of the higher end of the Masterbrand Cabinets collections who don’t offer furniture board grade carcasses, only plywood. Yes, cost is slightly higher, it definitely not overrated. It’s not quite Omega Cabinetry, but there’s definitely quality crossover. Meaning Decora is definitely, without a doubt, the highest quality that Diamond Cabinets will offer. There’s definitely some details in Decora that I’d say sets it apart from the Schuler brand, but you have to know what the upgrade options are to get the best value. Both are great quality cabinet brands. Cabinets aren’t cheap, so invest, buy it once, and buy it right! Give your installers the best possible chance to give you the best outcome by having plywood boxes so they aren’t blowing apart when you put a screw threw it. We all remember those college Ikea quality days. It’s worth every penny for the plywood carcass. That is, unless you want to be paying out of pocket for a couple new carcass pieces that your installers won’t be responsible for and you waiting another several weeks for it to be replaced. Shoot, all the import cabinets are plywood carcass now. They only take a week to get. That’s a whole new conversation!
