window dressing dilemma for floor to ceiling windows

These windows offer great view and light but think some window dressing would soften the look? There are tracks in ceilings for hanging drapes/curtains. Thinking sheers but not sure this brings much.

Not much room at the top. Don't want to impact the view if its me.

I like the idea of your sheers. They could open to the sides, enough to soften the near view of the houses.

I think they look nice from the outside of the house. The south-side of our home borders relatively closely on another home, so we made efforts to put in windows on that side of the home that were interesting, but high up and not huge, so as to achieve privacy. That was the thinking. We have a similar set of windows in our dining room downstairs, also on that side of the house, so from the outside I like them. I also like them inside. The east wall of our bedroom has a very large window. But other than that, there are no windows except for these south-facing ones. So I would like to keep them unless everyone thinks they are a disaster. I am going to do some looking into these "mini cellulars" lascatx mentions. Any brands people have liked for this kind of window dressing?

Hey There: You can go with a standard size roller shade or other style and install it to the outside or the window - an inside mount is really not needed. You might want to motorize it but for sure have it cordless for child safety. And if you want / need it really dark in your bedroom - black out fabric and the theater setting tracks will keep all the light out.

I was wondering why the odd ceiling, then I figured it must be that the windows are dormer windows. How are you going to dress the other windows? You could leave the upper windows bare.

All depends on how much privacy you require because sheers are not going to offer you any at night with the lights on.

Thanks Beverly, The track is similar to what you show in the photo. except its built into the ceiling so curtains hang flush from the ceiling. i love the many choices offered by Loft. Do you have experience buying from them?

Sheer curtains don't do anything for this room - then you rather leave it uncovered. But you can use translucent curtains that you close at night for privacy and open during the day fully or partially for additional light and views.
