Best/proper way to mount outdoor j-box w/ 6' stand-off?!?
Comments (9)Ooh, like the heat gun idea... have to practice that skill "off-line", lol. Is that an "approved" practice, or just kinda nudge-nudge, wink-wink, quick, no one's looking? steve, why use twin 90-deg sweeps instead of say 22.5 deg large radius pieces (which you will never find locally and will have to special order anyway... lol)?? Yeah, four 90s might be a tough pull. OTOH, with just the 2 90-ells, pulling 3 THWN #12 stranded wires was a no-lube, no-sweat pull. No solution arrived at yet... it's only 6", so I kinda like my "backing" box scheme. Due to "gotta have Xmas lights" pressure from (no children at home, no lawn service) resident, had to "go live" in a sub-code state--mechanically speaking--though "in use" cover is in place. "Next time" (famous last words), I'll go RIGID all the way, and solve 2 or 3 problems at once!...See MoreWood hood off-center on wall, would it look like a bad design?
Comments (8)My cooktop and hood are not centered on the wall. They do line up with the window on the other side (which is basically cented on that wall, but the walls are not even) and the center of the island and light fixture over the island. My wall is 33" DO cabinet -- 48" bake center (48" base and 45" upper)--42" hood -- 24" micro drawer base with 21" upper above. About 24" of the 33" oven cabinet is setoff against a 24" deep wall of cabiunets perpendicular to it. There is an open doorway there, so no corner cabinets. I think it all looks balanced because of the relationship between the walls, window, etc. In a different room, it might not work as well....See MoreSuggestions needed for light/magnifier/clamp stand
Comments (6)I can't say I have that problem with getting focus. The table model I have has the light and magnification on the same arm and I just look through the lens exactly where I position it. It is easy to position because it's hinged at the base of the arm near the lamp column and again at the lamp/lens. Are you sure a floor lamp is your best choice, Donna? Besides putting the light exactly where the focal point is, I can spread my work out on the table and not have the weight of it on me and be able to move parts of it easily. In addition to using it for handwork, I frequently set it up behind my machine for extra light. My husband liked it so well I had to order him one without the magnifying lens and with a more decor-like finish for his reading chair. I put a link to what Amazon is showing but my light is an off white. Here is a link that might be useful: table model with light and lens in the same place...See MoreAnother "Romex in conduit" question
