Design Dilemma Kitchens

Hi everyone. Since my last post we have made some decisions. Attached is a pic of our kitchen currently. And second pic is my inspo.

We will remove the cabinets next to the hood. Replace hood with something custom made. Take all cabinets to the ceiling. (We have plenty of cabinets in the kitchen so not worried about losing two). Will add a shelf on both sides of the hood in line with the bottom of the hood. Shelf will be for decorative items only.

Also replacing all doors with shaker style doors.

Going back and forth on paint color. Either chantilly lace or white dove. And iron ore or onyx for the island. We purchased the samplize sheets but I still can’t decide.

Also can’t decide between matte black or brushed gold hardware.

And 2 or 3 pendant lights?

Thoughts?

I’m not sure I would want shelves with ”purely decorative” items right above/next to the stove. No matter how effective the hood is, there will be dust-attracting grease on whatever you display.

What a great job, ChanaMasala (love the name). My suggestions are a charcoal, or whatever to pick up the rug stripes and small details, for the end wall and door for a little drama, but a white, cream, or cabinet gray for the side wall we see so it all blends back? I think any darker contrasting wall there will cause the stove and cabinets to advance. Of course, now that they're looking so good... :)

What color would you paint kitchen cabinets, hardware and walls?

The first thing to do is get proper lighting. Change bulbs to LEDs in dayligh color which is 3500- 5000K before choosing colors . As for painting the cabinets unless you have done lots of other cabinet painting having them painted by an actual cabinet refinisher will be worth the money as long as you love the kitchen the way it is. Mt advice woulf be to wait 3-6 months and see how it functions before spending money.

The lighter one is better than the other one. But they both have green undertones. Look for something a little more blue

the question is the paint color and the choice on hardware, right?

I'd pick the polished brass, and the White Dove, 3 fixtures, if they are the size you already have. I'd go with a color for the island base as opposed to Iron Ore, but go for it.

Thank you all for the comments so far. Just for additional context. Our walls are chantilly lace also The kitchen doesn’t get much natural light.

two shades of white will help add interest.

The Chantilly Lace will help refect light in the rooms, as it is more stark.

White Dove will be creamier and compliment the warmth of the brass hardware.
