Laundry Room project

last year

After purchasing the house in 2020 and having to do a total remodel, the laundry room was just another project. Love how this turned out. My design (after lots of great ideas from Houzz), my tilework and custom cabinetry by Machado Enterprises, Inc from Hamilton, Ohio. I designed a sliding panel to cover the water intake and drain but slide away in case of repairs or access. One before photo.

It is beautiful! can I ask about two things:

1. the cabinet to the left of the machines, tell us about that, how you use it, and if it is easy to use, being tucked between the machines and the window sill

2. the base cabinet to the right, is it a hamper? does it pull out or does it tilt out?

The cabinet to the left ... 2 cabinets with full extension pull outs for laundry and cleaning supplies. Drawers are 14 inches wide so plenty of storage and the window doesn't impact it at all. The large drawer to the right is a bin to hold 2 large container of dog food. It's similar yo a trash can bin with different utilization.

These new frontloaders cycle the water on/off several times during the fill process. If the household water system is subject to water hammer, then it'll happen each time the water valves cycle. The OP's previous washer may have been an old-style toploader that didn't cycle the valves repeatedly during fill. Some machines also have what's called "soft close" valves, which help avoid water hammer. Water hammer arresters can be installed to ease the problem. Check with a plumber, or research online if you or hubby can DIY plumbing projects.

You don't know how happy I am to have seen your post today! I know I saw this tile before on another post some time ago. Now that my kitchen project is coming along, I started thinking about flooring my laundry room. I remember those circles, and just like boxerpups, they too make me happy. Yes. See Angela's picture on Thursday 9:38? How the dividers go up and down, and front to back? That is key. Be sure to have dividers made for the bottom 2 drawers in a 3 drawer stack for baking things. You won't have to nest them and dig to find them or waste space. Baking vessels will sit on their sides. In this 3 drawer baking stack, I have the top drawer about 6.5 inches tall, outside measurement, and the middle drawer is 10 inches tall on the inside. The bottom drawer is 14 inches tall on the inside but that includes a toekick drawer. Just have two large bottom drawers and one shallow top drawer, but be sure to have dividers for the bottom two drawers, up and down dividers, as Angela shows. BTW, I have two of these 3 drawer baking stacks-love them. Sorry, no pics.

Nice, you really planned well! The cabinet on the left looks narrower in the photo; 14” is a decent width to work with. And full extension was a good idea, since they are a bit tucked in to the corner there. Well done!
