Please educate me on spraying fruit trees and the schedule
Comments (7)You are supposed to spray 3 times--Fall, midwinter and just before bud break. Dormant oil (for bugs) is not supposed to be done at the same time as sprays for diseases (copper or sulphur) You can't spray right before a rain. I find this impossible. My trees didn't even lose their leaves until Thanksgiving, and I had to hand-strip a lot of them. And as you may remember, we then had a MAJOR freeze (for us) and then it started raining and then fog and then rain, etc. I was going to do it after New Year's but got busy. And then SPROING! we had a little warm-up and my early peaches sprouted leaves, and my pluots have buds already. I sprayed last week-end for diseases, but it's too late for peach-leaf-curl on my early peaches. I haven't gotten around to the dormant oil yet. Do what you can, something is better than nothing, and don't beat yourself up (like I do) if you are late, or you don't follow the "schedule". Remember this is a hobby--it's supposed to be fun! (note to self...) And FYI, I use "Micro-Cop" for diseases (it's OK for organic) becuase I have apricots, and you should NEVER use anything with sulphur-lime on apricots, it can kill them. Comments (15)Thanks every one for all the info. So, I planted some of the winter leafy stuff, first time doing winter garden. I am in Dallas. Early September, we had a week when night temps dipped down into 60s. After that i planted these things. Since then day temps have been up and down, highs between 80s - 90s, but the night temps have been in high 50s to low 60s. Over the first 3 weeks of September I planted various kales/collards, spinach, cabbage, mustards, Chinese cabbage, broccolli etc. The only things that germinated were radishes, turnips, beets. Most others did not germinate at all. Thinking that i planted them too deep, I replanted most of them, not so deep this time. Since then, a few things have germinated very sparsely. In 3-4 weeks since germination, none of them have really grown much. Most don't even have the first set of true leaves. Cause?: Is this temperature related? Or may be this is normal. Should I plant some more seeds when the temps go down or the ones that are already in the ground will germinate then. The first frost will be around Nov 15. thanks....See Morenaive and unsure about what to do...please educate me!
Comments (13)I would not even consider suing the lawyer. I think he means well. He just came across as very degrading and even mentioned that I should use the "extra" money that I'm spending on my house for my children's education!! He has no idea what we are doing for my children's education. I add this just to demonstrate the way he is discussing this with me. I think that I'm going to insist on a different lawyer from the firm. I really liked the other person I had worked with there. Thank you for the advice. We do own the land but the builder worked with us to draw up the plans. We can leave and take them with us but there is a charge for them in that case. I'm just not sure at this point if we have time to get other bids. I'm not sure how that works. I do believe that he builds a far better then average quality house, that is why we chose him. perhaps I can get an estimator like renovator8 advises and ask for the OH&P (what is that?) I'm guessing overhead and something? I really appreciate all of your thoughts on this. thanks. oh and it is about 700K for 4000 sq. ft. in the northeast....See More'Splain me' about streaming movies
Comments (30)I'm biting the bullet and looking for a new receiver with at least six HDMI 'ports'. I don't think we will be 'streaming' anything unless the offerings improve for our 'demographic'. LOL Today AT&T emailed me, touting their "U-Verse" -- which sounds like it would replace the DirecTV HD-DVR they already provide us, bundled with landline and internet. The promo seems aimed at people who need 24/7 'connectivity' via hand helds...or music. I doubt they have any wider selection movies on offer than what I saw on Amazon and Netflix. Any DVD's we get from the library that are longer than a movie have two-week check-outs. We're in town a couple times a week anyway, so detouring a block to the library is easy. We still sometimes check out 'real' books, too. LOL...See MoreOakley
