You have a nice room to work with! I like the existing wall color you already have.. I'd be tempted to leave it :) Instead of making the long wall the "Wow" wall, instead I would make the accent walls the two shorter ones at each end. The Fireplace wall and the wall behind your kitchen table. I like the window treatment you used behind the sofa.. in the rust color. I'd do something similar flanking both sides of the fireplace. Bring in the Celery color you like in the fabric. Look for a fabric with the Celery color in it from the Rug and the rust color in it to tie it in with your other curtains. I'd remove the pedestal things that are on either side of the fireplace. They will distract from your main focal point Your decorated fireplace Mantel . If you want to paint any of the walls the Celery color that is in the rug..I'd do both of the short walls. The fireplace wall and the wall behind the kitchen table. I'd leave both sides of the long walls alone. Love your sofa! Perhaps a Celery colored Throw tossed over the back? I see you have a green throw? possibly in the black chair.. maybe one that matches the exact color in the rug. Also when choosing the green paint, make sure it is dark, rich enough to hold it's own against your rich mocha walls. But not too dark LOL I love the color of the rectangle square in the carpet. The smaller rectangle shape. Not the green on the ottoman cubes, that is more of the sage, olivey green. I really like that rich Celery in the rug. I'd just try to match it exactly and paint the short walls with it and call it a day Maybe someone can do a mock up for you. I'd rather see the rich Celery than a red/rust on the walls. Just to keep it more airy, but yet rich looking! Good Luck!

Annie-I haven't bought the paint yet, but the color I have at the top of my pile is definately teal! :) It is a basement room with a drop celing though, so colors definately look different. I think I can pull off her current pottery barn bedding if I paint more a turquoise or aqua color, maybe even layer a plain turquoise quilt under her ccurrent quilt and layer some plain turquoise pillows and a few patterned pillows. To advise on various forms of beige and off-white via Internet is difficult. I personally wouldn't suggest trying to find a pure neutral solution, as those work best when you can fully design each color and texture to create the rich look of a successful all-neutral room. But since you're renting, I would advise finding some colors and patterns that can be eyecatchers and they will take your eyes away from the 23 different ways the yellowed version of Navajo White clashes with a cooler tone elsewhere. Throw in a gorgeous tribal kilim or 2 with deep reds, navy, flashes of orange etc. Or whatever your colorway and style profile may be, just get some real patterns and real colors in there. What a stunning old house with fantabuous detailing! I thought you must be haunted by a spirit, and the reason the long floor was in the living room was so you could catch it! If not, please remove that mirror. In its place, please put a bar cart, and mover the side table to the other side of the chair. Find a coffee table for in front of the sofa. I would not spend a lot for it. I wouldn't spend a lot for the bar table either. After all, this is a rental, you don't know how long you will be here, where you will end up next and what will suit your next place. Scour garage sales, charity stores, etc. What I would do is find some throw pillows or throw pillow covers (or make them yourself) that marry the lighter color of your sofa and the darker color of your chair. I like the look of a fireplace screen too, but I wouldn't invest the money in it for a rental, either. If you can pick one up for a song second hand, then go for it, otherwise, forget it. Then if you want, you can spray-paint it with heat resistant spray paint.
