If you know the spot to plant, do it now,.. if not, burry the pot half way.

I will try to post some pictures of my garage this weekend. While it certainly is not a workshop, it came out very nice and extremely functional for someone that does small stuff around the house. I put a ton of thought into the design and the one thing I did that I love was get the cabinets off the ground so I can hose out the garage now. I had custom cabinets built that are 5" off the ground, go all the way to the ceiling and are 25" deep (very important). I installed a workbench that has 12 drawers and is also off the ground. I have no open shelves since that just means more dusting. On any exposed wall that I had I installed slat wall (like storewall but made of fiber board instead of plastic) that you can get from home depot for about $38/board. I had the floor epoxied and sealed with 6 coats of 2 part urethane. Nothing sticks to this floor. The best thing is that the garage always has a clean feel to it. It wasn't cheap but when people see the garage they are blown away by it.

The tile is so neutral, you can go with almost any color. The lighter colors will seem brighter in the dark space. I would find an inspiration piece and go with the colors from that...it can be an outfit you like, a plate, a pic of a room you like, a poster you'd like to hang on the wall...anything. So long as it's something you'd like to look at. Then go with it. My laundry room was inspired by a kitchen I saw on a house tour where the owner had white cabinetry and painted the little bit of wall space in heather. It was luscious, and i loved it so much that the color stuck with me....so now I have a heather colored laundry room...crazy to some, but I love it. And what the heck....it's a laundry room...why not liven it up.

Had I been your fabricator, I would have told you "No." on the coved bench idea. I don't like the idea of connecting adjacent walls with hard seams because of wall movement, and the technical problems of coving slopes on site are in the very advanced class. I would have siliconed two stanchions to the wall which would have supported a bench that never touched the walls. Looks good, very easy to clean, self-evacuating, and no technical problems. And more comfortable as your feet will hang under mine. No pointy corner either. The fact that your guys tried to cove different colors without rabbeting the shoe (cove molding) into the wall shows a gross ignorance of how coves in solid surface work. I'd have to draw a picture and I don't have time this minute, but without the rabbet, you create an elongated glue line which can't be sanded away and looks like the mold you described in your other post.
