First of all, I am so sorry you have had these ongoing problems. I believe you may have several factors all interacting to cause the situation. Here is some background info for your general knowledge. Your home's system was likely designed for the a sample home in your subdivision. With a particular floor plan, number of windows, room sizes, and facing a certain direction (north, east, etc.) Then as options are added like a vaulted ceilings (which increase the cubic feet of air that must be conditioned, possibly changes positions of ductwork, and may also mean that the attic insulation changed from the sample home) it may be that the heating and cooling system was not re-calculated for these changes. Even if you have more windows facing east or west vs. north and south can make a difference in the cooling load of a home. Skylights, insulation, what type of glass all make a difference. This is a pretty common problem. So what I am saying, is that unless you have another home in your subdivision by the same builder, with the same floor plan and options AND facing the same direction, then you may not have any examples to compare to your home. IF you can find such a house, I suggest finding out if they have had problems like yours, and what they have done to solve them. So, how to fix your house. I recommend calling 1 or 2 heating and cooling distributors in your area, and asking them to recommend a dealer to use to do a load calculation and ductwork analysis on your home. Or call 3-5 residential heating and cooling dealers in your town and ask the same thing. Say that you are not in a big hurry, and that you want to work with the person there that has the best experience and expertise. I suspect that you may find that your ductwork is too small in size. I also suspect you may find that the size of your system is too small as well. If this is the case, there are different options on how to best fix this problem. But I cannot stress this enough--in our ductwork training we learn that "you cannot power your way out of too-small ductwork" Think of air like a liquid. If you need to move more air, you need to address the ductwork capacity. If it is too restrictive, it can't fit any more air in it to move through it. Also, is your too-warm space next to the garage or basement that is not being conditioned? This may also be a factor when comparing your home to others in your neighborhood. I wish I had better news, but I think you have a pretty complex situation, and need to find someone who will help you.

Chellamaral, there was tile EVERYWHERE in this house and it only bled through in one area - a back bathroom. I think the grout was white, but I believe it was white all over the house . The tile that bled was the only original tile from 1958 left, so maybe that had something to do with it. To be honest, it didnt look that bad. One contractor was kind enough to tell me that if he stained the existing concrete, I would have ghosting every where. The current contractors said the same thing, hence the overlay. My friend just used the same contractor, and their existing floor was good enough to stain w/no overlay. I will ask the flooring guy why some floors are good tomorrow. I didnt get any pics of the bathroom, but here is an example I found online: Pip is doing well. He is a male parakeet. I already have two small (potty trained!) parrots, and wasnt looking for any more birds, but little Pip needs someone. His wings are cut (badly) and his nails are VERY long, but he seems tame. I have scoured the internet and no one has posted a lost ad in that area. My friend says that there are lots of foreclosures where she found him, and she thinks someone just let him go. How could someone let a bird that cant fly "loose?" It is bound to be eaten by a cat. I will probably get him a girlfriend and a bigger cage, once I move into the new house. There will actually be a bird room for my two birds. I love my birds, but had I known how much time/attn. they require, I would have thought twice before buying them. Below is my Rocky (post bath) and Zeek. I had an AC contractor look at the ducts. He said I have a HUGE underground duct with branches to the rooms, and moving the current ducts would be fine. The ducts are moved now and they have laid the first coats of overlay. Unfortunately, the scoring is still showing through and looks terrible! They are laying another coat tomorrow, but I am not confident it will disappear. I am not sure I am willing to pay 1k for the scoring, since the last one was wavy. This is what it looks like now. He cut a piece down from the extra cabinet pieces we had. Here is a closer look: It's definitely not perfect and I notice it, but I'm hoping once the sink is in, it will look ok. Our granite guy has our sink right now, so I haven't seen it with the sink yet. Of course, the gaps on the sides are still there since our gc did not do anything about that and hasn't returned my calls. The granite will be installed tomorrow afternoon, which is really stressing me out because this problem needs to be fixed before the granite is installed. itsallabouthefood- I just looked at the spec guide for our sink base, and unfortunately it does not look like it comes with an overlay piece.

@Lianne I think we would. If not, we’d just go with natural cherry, after having seen how they look in others kitchens, and how similar they looked. I believe going with the slight tint of stain, it was supposed to “control” the ambering process, and perhaps speed it up by starting out with some color. Our DR furniture is solid, natural walnut, so I sometimes think that would be nice for the kitchen cabs as well.
