What color carpet?

The first picture is in the day, the second at night. I have a few kids and the yellow brick is staying. Please help me decide!

If this is something you are selling, go with a neutral that isn't too light, but not dark either. We went to Lowes this summer when we sold our house. They had carpet in-stock on rolls at the back that right around $1.00 sf. The carpet guy recommended a frieze. My understanding is this type of carpet doesn't show seams as much and the colors hide dirt and traffic a little more. They have little samples you can buy to take home if you aren't sure about color. I think they also had a free pad upgrade at that particular time. The carpet looked great when we sold.

warmer browns, yes (call me crazy-I still like what you have now, more. But then I'm not from here, and I don't have associations many people here have, because they lived with it for a long time, got bored, etc and I also like the contrast with your gold. Deeper shade supports gold better. Even though you can always play with it all of course-accessories, a rug, you name it. You repeat a color, add darker touches-it balances itself. It can be neutral-you can make it work. You just need to make sure it's the right shade of a color. If gold goes-then blue(or rather emerald green) might become out of place. Or might not) Another reason to picture the whole room and its mood in your mind first, then narrow down from there

Ballet White is an off white with brown undertones. If you look at the BM color chart they recommend a brownish gray, warm red or blue . All warm tones. Definitely earth tones. This gives you lots of options. This designer painted the walls ballet white used White Dove on the trim for contrast and used a purple and light gray woven rug in the space. Here is another room with Ballet White. This time the rug has gold and whites in it.

I'm TOTALLY into blue right now. So my natural instinct is to tell you to work with a berber in a gray/blue tone. I would look at a medium depth colour. Not too dark...but not so light as to lose the effect of the furniture. AND the blue in the carpet will HIGHLIGHT the blue in the wall covering. The wall paper is SUPER pale. I would find a colour swatch (for paint) that is two steps DARKER than your wall paper. Now take that colour swatch AND the wall paper AND a shelf from the book case and go CARPET shopping. Now find 2 or three carpet options that you like and take the swatches HOME with you. Put ALL the colours in the same room at the same time and watch what the colours do through all 5 changes of light (early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, evening, night). The colours in the paint swatch AND the carpet swatches will 'cull themselves' as you watch the swatches change throughout the day. As soon as one colour "clashes" you can toss it to the side. You will eventually come down to a wall and carpet swatch that will work. Go ahead and purchase those two.

Your furniture and wall color play a big role. Can you show a picture of room? Before deciding/trying to match, would you consider lime-washing and that would open up so many more options (and potentially better suit your room). Of the three though, prefer #1.

#1 seems to be the most neutral of the options. The other samples lean too beige/pink undertones.

On my monitor none of them work with the brick. Can you get other samples? Or change the strong “yellow” feel of the brick with paint, whitewashing, something? The samples are pretty but don’t play well with the tonal quality of the brick.

why does the yellow brick have to stay? It doesn't go w/any of the colors you like. (what do the kids have to w/it?)

It's not even a pleasureable looking shade of yellow. Sorry, but it's a sickly yellowish/green.

If you insist on keeping that brick color, then bring in some carpet w/yellowish-tan shades, not the grays/taupes or griege colors

why not just slap on some white masonry paint or Romabio?

now your carpet choices will go perfectly.
