Makes sense thank you. I’m trying to really like this granite. I wanted my kitchen to be warmer, but it looks like it’s going to be cool again. It was definitely warmer than this in the show room.

That tile will not look right in your space, for many reasons. Your cabinets are plenty warm and if you do a tile in the same white tone, your kitchen will not be cool. I would look for nice subway tile in "white dove". If you want a bit more depth to the tile, maybe a crackle glaze in "white dove".

I would like the kitchen to be warm but I’m beginning to think it’s impossible with these countertops.

I will visit a floor and tile store tomorrow but so far nothing at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

In the pic that new tile looks great….it is definitely subtle,warm, and fresh without being a risk of becoming dated next season….and it is interesting without being distracting..however when using subtle colors …extra attention has to be given to plug-ins ,window trims,etc….to be sure they all flow together…i would go with a layout that is not staggered..either stacked vertically or horizontally would add to the fresh/new feel of the tile

When the tile is a simple graphic…the layout can be more unexpected… this will also be less likely to become “ dated”…

Skip the big box stores and go to local independently owned tile stores for a wider tile selection.

It may not be obvious..but i am always against predictable..overused…choices

On the same thread overly unique or colorful splashes tighten the boundaries on all your other kitchen decor choices…

I’ll definitely be going to look at some later today. I’m thinking that the grout should be the same color as the tile too. I want it to be simple.

I got tired of the gray backsplash sink til I choose a tile I painted it. I know I’m crazy.

Daltile Farrier in Andulasian Gray has all shades of warm light gray. You have to rip all of that down. That paint is flat and one dimensionsl. Not yo mention a very trmporary solution thst won’t last.

Good for you painting so can now have blank canvass. Your light and the gray backsplash made whole kitchen look gray on screen. Do you have the right light bulbs? 4000 something? I am assuming you want to get away from the now dated gray look and want to complement the warmer dove white. Busy counter means simple backsplash. Your floor in pictures has a warm tone, Have you thought of a muted color in a subway tile? Or plane cream/white in a “crafted “type tile? Your granite is a wildly used one, there must be pictures on Houzz of other kitchens that subdued the busyness of the granite and still gave your kitchen character. The trick as you well know is to make the dove white and the granite as well as floor work together

Hi, are there any reasons you wouldn’t replace the granite countertop?

We just got the granite so we won’t be replacing it.

@husterd I absolutely want to get away from the gray and warm everything up. We are also wood floors this week. A dark wood.

I also want to change the lighting but the lighting in the kitchen are those little tiny LED bulbs on like a motherboard or something.

Not sure if they are 4000k.

Changing the lighting first..a good idea…as it will affect all the colors you are choosing…what kind of wood floors…why wood and why dark brown?

I want lighter but then I would have to change the floors in the living area, foyer area, and the stairs…and also upstairs matches in two of the rooms.
