Can't find the notes from that tile order. We had a hard time finding a good match with the lighter coloured veining in the Porcelain tiles to match the slabs we purchased. I spend one afternoon driving around Burnaby and lucked out on a small lot find. The store had 345 square feet and I only needed 150. My client spent two days with different layouts in the living room and another 4 hours with their designer to get it down to a perfect layout. We had one tile corner fail while setting and after the fact my steam shower ventilation system needed to be fined tuned and we lost another. Luck would have it we had one exact copy and one near perfect match. We discovered that there was 20 different tiles in total and they could be laid out to look like a full slab. These clients have asked me not to share photo's of this shower - I'm sorry I can't share any pictures with you. After doing my best work and not being allowed to showcase it I'm much more careful about addressing this with new clients. Now I ask for permission before we even start or we pass on the job.

If you have hard water, know that it will leave deposits in the grout which will require the use of CLR and some elbow grease. We remodeled this entire house built in 1989 except for the master shower. It's HUGE, tiled with seats and the double sink counter matches it. I wasn't a fan of the existing tile, but could live with it. It is rather light beige with bunches of flowers here and there. The cost of replacing all that tile would have been prohibitive! Just know hard water will make it harder to keep clean. This is how it looked during our remodel. Took a long time to get rid of those hard water stains. The junk is from them replacing the fan and light in the ceiling. This shower has no door. It doesn't need it. HUGE!

For your countertops I suggest a contrasting color. I like something dark such as green marble like Verde Antique or soapstone as a contrast. Maybe green marble is too busy and a calming soapstone with few veins will complement all the movement of your beautiful marble. We did our master bath with honed Imperial Danby marble floors with green verde antique accents and they look great together. I used medium gray grout on the floor - TEC silverado on my Calacatta floor in the guest bath and TEC dove gray on the Danby floor. Both are nice but the silverado is less likely to show dirt as it ages. I'll post a photo (as soon as I learn how to).

:) I'm glad to see you giving all these choices some thought ahead of installation/purchase Loretta. I know it's overwhelming, expensive and exciting all at the same time! I'm sure you've already googled images of penny tile laid on shower floors, but if you haven't, do so.. do you like the look, do you want this look for the next however many years? Are you madly in love with the tile? I'm not talking you into or out of, but instead telling you to do what you love most, can afford best, and to remember that there are plenty of people here who've been where you are today! Personally, I find the penny tile "disappears" once it's grouted. I love it naked LOL..but once the grout is in, it's harder to see. I like the hex tile you've posted on the bottom right both size and style wise, but what do I know! I went with a tumbled slate floor, in greys, oranges, golds and blacks.. so you may take that into account as well, I tend to like drama! :) If you're wondering about the effect of using the penny tile as an accent strip, type "contrasting tile bands on shower walls" into google, then click the "images" tab.. take a look at what others have done in similar situations.. hundreds of ideas and images!
