Entry Exterior Suggestions.... Anyone have brick/shingle siding?
Comments (2)Thanks for the kind words. My heart is typically drawn to one allover exterior, but am now fearing a brick entry would be overkill. Curious as to what a shingle/siding entry might look like as we are doing shingle siding on the dormers. I tried to repost with a different title but it may have gotten deleted. I have always love the cottage cedar shake look but was fearful of using in oklahoma. No one does it here unless you are in a historical district(like soonermagic) I wasn't crazy about doing a brick home with rock entry which everyone does here. I just couldn't fit the rock in with what I had in my mind. I guess I am still trying to find a cottage/beach house/hampton vibe in there somewhere.......See MoreCan anyone show pics of exterior home with cultured stone?
Comments (14)arapaho - thanks for your kind words! I am sure your home will be beautiful. You picked a such a rich and versatile stone... Part of the frustration is you can go in so many directions with it! If it weren't for those builders' palettes I don't know what I would have done. For us, picking the exterior was the most difficult selection for the house. BTW, bigger square footage just means the mess gets spread over a larger area. Just ask my 5 kids! ; )...See MoreColour suggestions for exterior of home?
Comments (3)I would not worry about the color of the addition. You don't have to match it. If this is the original siding, be prepared once the comes off, for some unpleasant surprises. Another reason the focus just on that area, I have seen a few buildings in my town with the same color brick paint the wood sections a tan. It looks far better than the usual white. Also tan would also look good with the new white windows But you HAVE to focus on the trim, fascia and siding of the upper part of the main building. Rotting wood lets in rain water, invites insects and rodents. I would be concerned that the new window in the attic is properly flashed after the new siding is installed. Is cement fiber board used in your area? Siding and trim can be ordered pre-primed....See MoreAnyone have suggestions what color I should paint my cabinets?
Comments (12)now that you posted pics of the whole area, I really don't mind the green. it would probably be less money and mess if you replaced the countertops and the slate backsplash w/something lighter. is that an option? I'd change your hardware to copper or soft gold to tie in w/all of the wood and your pots. maybe switch out the vent hood to a copper and wood one! I do like the wood on your bar top and would leave that. but switching that brown/gold counters w/something lighter, along /the backsplash, would be the change you're looking for. But please, try doing the lights first! I promise you you'll be amazed some examples of green w/lighter countertops (and brighter lighting!)....See Morecat_ky
