Exterior Design Dilemma Windows

Recommendations for gap on white exterior

A second story addition was added to this house which left a less than desired appearance on this one wall. There is a large white gap and the spacing/arrangement of windows is a bit strange. Any recommendations on how to improve this space on the exterior?
We can't add new windows or change the interior much due to the interior facing the master closet and bathroom sink.

Painting it the color of your post supports might make it less noticeable.

If this is the backyard. I would leave it as it is.

If this is the front yard, I would add landscaping. A weeping cherry tree, some lower boxwoods to move the eye down.

Shame on you for your apparent disrespect of the historic fabric of your home. You've replaced a perfectly fine probably old-growth wood balustrade for plastic and sawdust; much more subject to UV light degredation and expansion and contraction. You have your problem because your contractor ordered the wrong length columns. The flutes penetrate the base instead of terminating beforehand as did the originals probably because he had to shorten them to get them to fit. Caulk traps water as well as preventing its intrusion. I would use none, however, I'd have the columns replaced wth the proper flute termination. Probably an old-growth floor you pitched too. Ugh.

I think your home could benefit from the addition of shutters. You might want to consider white or another color.

Consider putting a tall trellis on the left side in color like the beams. Under the bump out a couple taller shrubs or delphiniums would be pretty.

I had an ugly back of the house too with ridiculously placed windows when viewed from the outside, but perfectly placed for airflow through the house. What to do... I put a mask over it of a two story outdoor patio and balcony with columns in perfect symmetry, and nobody can see the monster underneath anymore. Plus we get three additional "rooms" outside and love each one.
