New Area Rug Help!
Comments (7)Everything in this area is pretty neutral with a touch of black in each room. The adjoining living room has the same color walls with a black area rug as pictured below. I have a red mixer on the counter that isn’t really visible from the table. In the front sitting room (which is not directly connected) there are hints of orange, green, and yellow. I have area rugs in all three rooms and am really struggling with what to do under the table. Currently the one there is 8’ round....See MoreArea Rug help needed
Comments (13)You can not "mimic" a plant fiber with anything that you will be able to clean. Nor one that will be soft. Babies do not remain babies. You can visit a local carpet remnant store, find a neutral broadloom remnant you like in something soft, and have it bound. To the inch you want. This stage of your life? It is SHORT, : ) You can also go to a very good broadloom store, and do the same thing from any more luxurious wool texture that IS soft, and will be in a texture /color you can love.. Triple your budget. Softest will be wool. Or double and a half the budget, Pottery barn below. wool, nylon and poly. - 1619.00 in 8 x 111 https://www.potterybarn.com/products/fitz-flatweave-rug-cream/?pkey=cshag-rugs&isx=0.0.3458...See MoreNeed Area Rug help!!
Comments (38)Notice the sofa is not centered on the art. I'd get that fixed. Console table: either get a wider one and add 2 buffet lamps to it. or remove the console table/add a lamp and end table to the other side of the sofa. For the clock wall, can you take a photo from way back? My first thought is nothing on that wall....See MoreArea rug help! So many options to choose from!
Comments (1)It really depends on your style, your rooms (open concept or not), how much color and pattern you like, and so forth. For instance, in a monochromatic scheme, or MCM, yes, you’d want them to match more. For traditional, not match, but tie-in somehow. Certain boho, not match at all. Etc. I look at rugs as art, rather than utilitarian and just something to walk on, so mine are chosen in that sense. I have rugs in every room, based on that room, even if it’s not matchy with another nearby. But many people prefer rugs to be more function/stay in the background, and that’s great. It’s really personal preference. If you’re worried about clashing, or don’t feel comfortable with trying to mix and match, look at rug collections on rug sites ... such as Rugs Direct, Incredible Rugs, etc. They put these collections from one brand together, and most are very cohesive. You could do two different rugs in your living and dining, and a solid in the entry, for example....See Moreliasch
