Generally toilets are sold by what is called rough. Basically it the distance from the wall to center line of the drain. There is also a round front and an elongated bowl. More than likely you have a 12" rough. You could go to a 10" rough but that involves moving your drain pipe back 2", not a small task.Stick w a 12" and a round bowl.There are a lot of makers , check as many as you can to find what you need. There also toilets that have there tanks hidden in the wall and lastly a direct flush (commercial type), but these, I believe need a 1" supply. Your current toilets can be dated very easily. Take the tank cover off and there should be a date of manufacture stamped on the bottom of the lid.

Live_wire_oak, it was not nan-nan that said she wasn't having it inspected, it was me talking about work we were doing in our own house. She said nothing about inspections. As far as my kids inheriting the house and then trying to sell it, well if they want to sell a house that by that time is 350 years old and has been in the family for 150+ years than that is up to them, but it is not going to stop me from putting isles in my kitchen that are 32" (against code) which is the only thing that makes my kitchen work. I am not raising my ceilings even though we gutted the house, as there is much about a 300 year old house you either have to love and live with or decide to burn it down and start over. So when they inherit, the kitchen will again be out of date and they can start over if they want, I will not let "international codes" dictate what is "comfortable" for other people in the house I plan to die in. And I have never had a toilet in any apartment I have rented in any place have the type of clearance you are quoting here. I understand it is the rules, but at some point the rules are a bit out of touch with actual reality of everyday people and homes in some areas of the country. As far as a sun porch being a living space, well your right, they were never meant to be living spaces, however growing up we turned a much larger one into a bedroom for my grandfather when he could no longer live on his own. My neighbor turned one into a bedroom also for her great aunt when she fell and broke her hip and could no longer take care of herself, and I have seen some strange living spaces carved out of attics and basements to supplement first time homeowners mortgages. This all in MA. Maybe it is because I grew up in a slightly less affluent area than you did, maybe it is because space is at such a premium that buying a house with any space is a financial nightmare especially for a first time buyer, but I have seen way stranger than a bathroom on a sun porch.

Beautiful, beautiful. My big momma had a bathroom with these colors, but it was put in at the time she abandoned the footed tub and went to the built in. It was nowhere near this big but I loved it. The cotton organdy curtains over the tub, the pink and black reminded me of June when all the cousins returned from school and college, one of whom who had a pink and black Ford, so vogue. We all camped out at Grandma's or any homes of the family commune, doing a lot of farm and garden work, working in the restaurant, and having fun after the work was done, playing cards, going to the drive-in movies and sneaking in at the wee hours. I am so sorry about Linda. My mother died of Parkinson's, such a horrible thing to endure.

Thank you all for your feedback...it's getting closer to reality. Plumber was here this week so I believe we have resolution on the sink plumbing and cabinet. Lucy132, we are still working on that. As of now, no resolution! One option for us would be the wall that the door is on (by the sink). We have to resolve hand towels too. If we could have moved the door, we would and that would have helped but no such luck :( we did move the cabinet on the wall over the toilet so there is opportunity there but you'd still have to stage your towel by the sink or track water over floor. There are shower door options with towel bars but we opted against that.
