I think painting the back of the cabs dark brown would be really cool with some colorful dishes. Suero- I never would have picked a rug like that, but you are right, it works. My only thing is that I am, in general, trying to avoid red. I had red accents all over my last apartment, and I want to go for a different feel. However, I get to see what a teal looks like, and how patterns interact with my curtains, so thank you!!! I have continued to look at other rugs. Hubby has been almost no help. He is very picky on what he wants, but he won't help me look. I have browsed through approximately 4000 rugs by now, and every suggestion I have had, he has shot down. :( Here are some of my favorites right now. My first thought is an 18" dw is fine for a small rental kitchen. We rented out part of the lower part of our first house. We went to trouble and expense to make the kitchen better than what was there. Long story short, every single tenant we had religiously bought take out and used the larger fridge we bought for some lonely leftovers, beverages and condiments. The second to last tenant asked us to remove the island to fit his big sectional in and the last guy did not use it either. We wasted well over $1k, when we were new homeowners and cash was tight, in an effort to have a better rental unit. I'd do a modest size sink and give them more drawer space. You don't want them able to pile up too many dishes anyway.... Ikea has great options for smaller kitchens. Try out their online planner and ask for help when you go there.

@nucleartumbleweed... Congrats on the new Electrolux's (I have the older 70 WaveTouch series) you should enjoy your machines very much. What I do when I'm done using mine is wipe down the door glass, boot (the rubber seal between the door and the drum), take out the detergent drawer and shake it dry. Leave the door open and the detergent drawer open or leave it out (on top of the machine) to dry out until next use or for 24/48 hours. Use hot for your whites and you can do a Sanitize wash every once in a while to help kill bacteria not only in your clothes but in the machine also (use Sanitary for whites). Warm is now the new Cold. Temps in today efficient machines have been turned (dumbed) down. Warm is now in the 70-80 degree range (not in the 90/100's like they used to be). Use cold infrequently for dark specialty items that are super delicate...but most of today's colorfast times can withstand warm. Do the Clean Cycle when the machine promps you (Electrolux is every 50 washes), with a cup of bleach. Remember scented bleach or splashless bleach is not a disinfectant. Only traditional good old bleach is labeled to kill 99.9% of household germs. You can use "pods" but DO NOT put them in the detergent drawer. They go directly into the drum with the clothes. The same with scent beads, pods or scent crystals. Most of us separate our whites from our colors. If you want dazzling whites, wash them together with no color items. You don't need all the stuff we post here in pictures or talk about. We just get carried away here and simply must have our stash of new and improved or just discussed items. Actually, they're not all the same. The F&P elements are more powerful than those of the Wolf and Bosch models. The Miele has boost modes that can run its elements at very high wattages -- but the price is high. Warranties vary. Of course, you don't have to spend a lot. The Empava EMPV-IDC24 is only $368 but its elements are rather small and not very powerful. I'd probably go for the F&P, assuming the price you wrote isn't a typo. Have 6" more space? Consider the Frigidaire Professional FPIC3077RFwhich has knobs!
