Funny this thread was resurrected! I still dont' have anything over the bed, but I know what I am going to hang. :) We used to have a little basement room with a couch and table - kind of a hang out when I was growing up. My mom put a cotton tapestry kind of thing on the wall. it wasn't of a scene, it was just colorful. I know I have it somewhere. I am going to use that once I find it. :)

We've decided to go ahead and move all the boxes I've packed and the furniture that has been redacted from the rooms (now residing in the attic) to storage in our new home state. DH is coming home next week and wants to load up a truck to take back. He's crazy, but I love him. I'm trying to locate a professional home stager but it is not easy when you live in L.A. (lower Alabama) I need help getting them in the front door - that has been our biggest problem, then the inside. I don't want to spend another dime on the house without real professional advice rather than real estate agents who have had "classes." Obviously, their advice hasn't worked. I read up on them and thier fees and it appears that you can get a variety of services from an initial consultation, to a stage using your stuff, then one with their stuff and on up. I tried to get one earlier but she never returned my call, probably cause most of the interior designers work for builders and don't have time for us little folks. I think if you are in a slow market and have a hard house to sell it would be best to consult with a professional. Just my .02 cents.

Pharaoh ya wimp :oP Here in Alaska in real earth quake country (verses those silly little shake up ya'll whine about) we hang glass and metal above our head and DARE it to come down on us! (and right in front of that dangly light fixture we have the main support beam that holds up the ceiling LOL and the light is hung extra well to ensure it does not jiggle down during a quake heh heh) This is how the bed looks up against it:' I don't really have a behind the bed wall but do have small art items on the wall that the bed side tables butt up to. But really normally...there is a child on that counter or a dog or a cat...they all love it: My bed backs up to a cabinet we use for storage so really all I have is a pretty counter top and a view behind the bed in the lake house. In the other place, I think a picture would be too much...I do think the bed sort of dictates what belongs belongs behind it somewhat: My son has a monkey :oP It would take on a whole different meaning in the master bedroom heh heh

First pic - Living room. Remove one of the armchairs and put the couch under the front window. Remove TV and stand it is on. Remaining armchair can likely fit well in that space. Don't need coffee table in the LR for pictures or showings - more floor space is a plus. You likely don't need the table that is currently between the armchairs either unless the light from the table lamp is needed in the room. Clear the mantle and get a nice vase with some fresh flowers for pictures and showings. Clean, clean, clean. Second pic - Kitchen. Remove everything from the top of the cabinets and the valance on the window. Clear out at least half of what is behind the glass doors on the cabinets and keep pretty colour coordinated pieces to display through the glass door. Take down all the hanging cups and is that Garfield in the corner - if so, sorry Garfield but you've gotta go too! Clean, Clean, clean. Third pic - Bedroom. Move the storage armoire out and the armchair too. Move the head of the bed to that wall. New plain bedding. White would be nice or another plain colour. Get rid of the plant and the stand and whatever it is sitting on. Clean, clean, clean Fourth pic - washroom. Remove plants and valance on window and the folk art in the window. Clear at least half of the stuff out of the cabinet with glass doors. Leave only pretty things showing in there. Remove all the things from under the sink and roll up a few towels if it looks too bare. Clean, clean, clean and then clean some more. Nobody likes to see someone else's dirt in a washroom. For pictures and showings the house should look like nobody is living there. All towels clean and folded straight. Put wet towels in the laundry before you leave the house. Please put the toilet seat down for pictures and showings. Nobody needs to see the inside of a toilet to know what it is used for! Clean, clean and then clean some more. If you are using an agent they should offer their opinion of other changes that might be needed. In my opinion clean and clutter free is key, that includes the outdoor spaces too. Power wash walkways and clean up garden beds and make sure garbage bins etc are out of sight if possible. Good luck with the sale. It is stressful having your house in saleable condition and keeping it that way so I hope it sells quickly and you can move forward.
