What would create a spiral scratch on my new quartz countertop

I noticed this scratch within a couple days of Cambria quartz install. What do you think caused it ? Or did it come that way? It's an exact spiral

Doesn’t look like a scratch but maybe suction cup marks. Have you called the installer?

I thought suction cup too. But Cambria came out and tried removing it. They said it seemed like a scratch and can't speculate where it came from

Rellabgib3, we had exactly the same thing happen to us. So what happened with yours? I just finished trying to rub it out with car polishing compound. It got a little of the finer ones out, and shined it up really good! But the deeper ones aren't going away. I'm researching alternatives. Seems like it should buff out, using coarse grit and then finer grits till it shines as good as new. Like a car, right? Ours looks kinda like Mechy's above. I wonder what the hell did it. You would think workers would show a little care, but it seemed to me that as one finished, they did a little as they could leaving the next guy to look out for himself.

When people say that quartz looks like "fake" stone it always makes me scratch my head. For me, I love it because it is clean and uniform--if I wanted "real" stone with the variability that comes with real stone, I'd choose granite or marble. Saying it looks like fake stone is like saying that cork looks like fake wood. Two very different materials, two very different looks. Neither one is better--it's what style you prefer. Exactly! But I have found that many people try to sell quartz counters saying they look like granite but are better/easier/tougher (which I think has already been addressed above). Some of their colours do appear to be in fact imitating the look of real stone. I don't think they do well at that, but I totally agree with you that it's a great choice if you want a uniform or clean look or their vibrant colours.

Tell your countertop guy that you are going to submit a claim to his liability insurance carrier. That should prompt him to repair the floor. You are not due back $$$, but he is responsible to repair the damage. Do you really think it is moral to try to shake the guy down for money? Things happen on every job and he has the right (and the responsibility) to get it fixed. Did you hire him separately than your general contactor? I assume you asked and received copies of his insurance before he set foot on your property. Every homeowner should expect and request this info prior to entering into a contract. If they don't have it, run the other way. No, you shouldn't hold back any payment for the damage that exceeds the lowest of three bids to repair the damage. In my state that is called unjust enrichment and the contractor can file a lien on your house and recover interest and attorney fees. Hopefully you have pictures of the floor before he came on the jobsite.

Your installer came out or Cambria? I can’t imagine a cambria warranty call leaving without a resolution.

Looks like a pattern of concentric circles that are sometimes on the bottom of skillets.

It's very small. Much smaller than a skillet. And it's brand new. Never cooked around. Yes Cambria themselves came out to try to remove and no luck

I"ve seen a lot of marks in estone and that one is puzzling. Does the finish feel differently between the rings?

No. The finish does not feel different. The only spot it feels different is the very beginning of the ring feel like a scratch. It is slightly darker in that spot

When I read 'spiral scratch' I thought maybe someone opened a can on the counter. But those circles look very uniform and sure look like something with that pattern was placed there.
