Need Window Treatment Ideas

Looking for ideas on how to add window treatments with some color to this back wall.

Mount outside the frame a set of three matching Roman shades, in a nice color or pattern, so that they hang from near the ceiling and cover the celestory windows. Remove the Venetian blinds if possible and if you need light or privacy control, longer shades that lower to cover the entire window or door area.

Not sure how wide that wall is but could you remove the blinds and install drapery panels on the 2 windows and possibly have nothing on the door?

That is such a beautiful room! I love the cabinet and the coffee table with the blue finish on it! Those are amazingly beautiful windows and during the day are breathtaking, I bet! I am not sure I can really add any suggestions for covering them at night - in our family room, I lived for a year and a half with nothing on the windows and at night it felt creepy - we have woods in the backyard as well but it felt creepy without anything covering the windows. We ended up getting Plantation Shutters - pricey but beautiful and I love them. During the day they let in as much light as you want - at night they completely close and you feel cozy inside without the blackness of the windows. I don't have a pic to post at the moment though. Sounds like you wouldn't want shutters though - it sounds like you want something minimal during daytime.

Let's see: Pick up some towels that bring out the blues in the flooring and pair them with crisp white and black ones. THEN check out some paisley towels in that same slate blue -- maybe try the facecloths? -- just to add an element of pattern to the room? For the blank wall -- how about some thick black shelves with family photos -- re-done in black-and-white -- positioned to "lean" on the shelves. Then add some accessories in fresh white or silver. Or simply fold some of the towels up there? Darkest wicker items (maybe some boxes on the shelves to hold a few personal items etc.) would add an element of warm texture to the room. Hope this helps! Take down the curtain rod and remove the painters tape. Since you don't need privacy, find some art that will fit on the wall by the light switch and the wall at right angles to the right side of the door.

If you really want them you need to remove the mirrors. The mirrors aren't reflecting anything worth seeing twice. Even if not closing the curtains they need to look like they can be closed. For the rod measure the width of the window and add 1 to 3 inches for each side of the window. Multiply the rod length by 1.5 for minimum fullness, 2 for medium fullness and 2.5 for an extra full look. For example, for a 36-inch rod, your measurements would be 54 inches for minimum fullness, 72 inches for medium fullness and 90 inches for an extra full look.

And I would do one single rod over both windows not a small rod over each window.
