I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

I would agree with the other advice you have been given not to use anything that remotely looks like wood. Let the actual Acacia wood be honored for its integrity. Without seeing more of the floor (for scale) and the other finishes it is hard to give you advice on what color. Off the bat I think the color that is existing works as it provides high contrast with your Acacia wood. Be careful of "plank" shapes--there needs to be room for the length visually. Where seams land is important. I recommend whatever material you choose, you discuss the placement with the installer so that there doesn't wind up being little bits leftover. Hi, I think if you are trying to limit the budget, painting the wainscot is a great option. I can't tell from the pictures what finish is on the wood walls, but if you choose to paint I would recommend speaking to a paint store about a deglosser or gripper primer, if there is a finish over the wood. BTW, with a new vanity, some paint, new mirror and a light, this room could look fantastic for a bsmt bath Good luck.

You put a shower in this tub without better wall covering? I once used a plastic coated wall board and it clearly said it would not hold up to being in a shower. Your Corain is great in a shower, but not with all those seams. You also have a ledge that is just waiting to have water pool there so it can leak into the (almost guaranteed) walls that have no waterproofing. If you are going to be a landlord, you need to make things idiot-proof. Not saying that all renters are idiots, but the majority of renters are going to be looking out for your interests and call you as soon as they suspect mold build up on that ledge part that is not Corian. Corian will stand up to anything, but for you to switch this to a shower, you needed any ledges to be slanted downward to drain. Be happy about the Corian portions. Paint everything to match that. But don’t expect a tub surround that is level to work like a shower that is made to drain away shower water. Mold and mildew shall ensue.
